Reward Money

Featured Replies

I seem to remember reading about a week ago that the police investigating the case of Khun Wanphen Pienjai decided to pocket the reward money for - in essence - doing their job.

Is this still the case and if so would it not have been more appropriate to have allocated the money to the family of the deceased?

Just a thought.

I agree with you!

The country where I come from it's not allowed for any police to get the reward money...

Wow I was thinking the same thing. And we still don't know HOW the police actually found the guy. Someone else should really be getting a piece of that reward. However I was surprised the mother did not give any money to the cousins who said they were barely able to pay for the funeral expenses here in Phuket. Instead she gave 5000 baht donation to the temple. Seems quite high for someone with no means of support.

Good on the rotary for taking the cause.

But yes strange about the police......

So how did they find him?

So how did they find him?

I believe (so I was told) someone in the Immigration Volunteers recognised the mug shot and alerted the Tourist Police .. then the BIB did the arresting.

However, even if there had been no solid tip-offs and the solving was down to their detective work, I'd have thought it would have been in their hearts to at least give a sizeable chunk to the family .... naiive as I am!!

Well then the then the Immigration Volunteer should get the loot! Bet he would have given some of the money!

Amazing the cops take the credit !!!

Thai police pocket the money and the farang rotary gives her kids scholarship programs to help them.

About sums things up.
