Scams, Sin Sot, Falang word, Mia Thai saai.gifcoffee1.gif

The 1% rule states that the number of people who create content on the internet represents approximately 1% (or less) of the people actually viewing that content (e.g., For every one person who posts on a forum, there are at least ninety-nine other people viewing that forum but not posting). The term was coined by authors and bloggers Ben McConnell and Jackie Huba[1] although there are earlier references to the same concept[2] that did not use this name.

The "90-9-1" version of this rule states that 1% of people create content, 9% edit or modify that content, and 90% view the content without contributing.

So how about you other 99% having a go? Maybe we'll get something interesting to discuss.

Such statistics and models from such studies are difficult to corner as true, less a standard. Just as a rule, I'm suspicious towards any such surveys, polls, or studies that transmit themselves as absolutes.

It could also mean that we should spend 99% of our time listening and reading and 1% talking or posting. I will try to do better.

Okay , why do we not put this survey to a test , all regular posters not to post for a 24 hour period and see what transpires , could bring up some comments from the fence sitters .

Posted

Well it is a MINORITY that are active content creators, that's for sure --

Right now here:

8450 active user(s) (in the past 60 minutes)

620 members, 7787 guests, 43 anonymous users

Then you'd have to create a scholarly study to determine and define what regular might be. Everyday? Three times a week? Ten hours logged-on or 3 hours per day.......it's all so complicated. :jap:

It is not well known but 78.3% of such statistics are just made up with no background research or facts to back them up

All the regular posters will just make new accounts to post with for the day

And if 10% of the members posted in that hour, that brings you to the <1% figure.

<deleted>, <deleted>, <deleted>,

There are at least 4 four types of internet viewer / contributor.

Ego heads- who just want attention and post any drivel to get attention.

Those who genuinely share and want feed back.

Those who don’t post but want to learn or at least get a point of view.

All others, for whatever ever reason.

On some forms I just read because I want to learn, on others I feel confident enough to post.

I am reminded of the quote “It is better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt”

Scams, Sin Sot, Falang Word, Mia Thai Etc The 1% rule,

<deleted>, <deleted>, <deleted>, AGAIN

Why do you throw this lot together? Sin Sot is a local curtail issue.....

I ask myself is there any point in me arguing the point.

Foggy,

The content that the 1% create is 99% rubbish.

Brilliant......

It would be interesting to run a stat on what % posted on here is absolute rubbish. This post included....

Fantastic I have just contributed to the 1% total, which is definitely in the 99% rubbish column. I can sit back for a while now!!

Great post Thakkar, with you all the way, not sure if this forum is representative of what is on the net or not?

Topic Started By Stats Last Post Info

Looking at the 'Stats'column in each sub forum here will give you info on posts and viewed.

If you buy into the 1% theory, that would mean that because there are about 20 posts here, there should be about 2000 people who have viewed the topic. Less than 400 so far.

I think this forum runs more like 1-15 +/-.

Nah, they'll just create even more useless threads about Scams, Sin Sot, Falang word and Mia Thai which we're all bored with reading.

And then there's the rare contributor who just loves to say <deleted>!

Have you ever read youtube comments? Here are some of the more inspired and thoughtful ones:

Foggy,

And then there's the rare contributor who just loves to say <deleted>!

And that rare contributor has got it 100% correct in one post.

You are either a poster who spends a very large part of his/her day posting their opinion on this site to get heard and believe/ try to make people believe you are correct.

All the rest are people who read the <deleted> and try to relate to the rare bits of wisdom that occasionally come from a select few.

There seems to be a strange amount of expats that spend so much time on Thai visa that they don't actually realise what is happening outside their front door.

I read peoples posts who joined years ago with very few posts and their opinion gets ignored and I then read other peoples posts who joined six months ago with two thousand posts and they are people who get the replies as the knowledgable ones.

I personally think if you are out and about living, working and creating a life for yourself in Thailand then thai visa is a great reference tool.

If you are spending over three hours a day posting on thai visa then you are just a tool.

So to offend so many. :jap:

It seems to be the topics with the content of sex, money and power that attract the most posters.

Take a look at the, is it right to pay for sex thread and others that are similar. No need to survey just see for yourself.
