Yes !! I assume you mean getting money from abroad ? you will get that sometimes especially if it has been raining or phone lines are busy etc etc.

When it happens to me sometimes and I usually try later and it's Ok

Might help to know what you were using for ATM's and card. This is August here and July in some places so that might be a factor if new rules are going into place in August.

It's an English bank ATM card, and the ATM machines i have been using have been Siam Commercial,Bank of Ayuthaya, and Siam commercial.I have lived here for 5 years, but never had a problem?

it is for sure a problem that has to do with congested lines.

it is the first of the month, and a sunday, so probably even plenty of Thais are withdrawing cash and those bank-servers will be every busy.

plus there seems to be a problem with international gateways today - the THAIVISA-website for example, takes ages to load at the moment ( more than 5 minutes to open a page).

don't worry too much and try again later or tomorrow

Could be a problem with your account (i.e., card expired, bank needs some info/confirmation from you, could be numerous issues). If the ATM card still don't work on Monday, time to call your bank. Good luck.

Problem solved, thanks for all the replies,it was because i'd used the card less than 24 hours previously, and had used my daily limit,so had to wait exactly 24 hours (give and take 30 mins) to use the card again.

One of those bank safety features to help prevent ripoff of your account....a good thing...glad it worked out for you.

I was actually aware of this, but forgot (doh!),i very rarely use the card more than once every 2 weeks or so,then twice in two days............

Non the less, yes,a good safety feature.

That's only true of foreign ATM cards. Depending on what bank in Thailand's ATM you use, you can different amounts per pull. I know I have somehow increased my limit to 25,000 Bht per pull with my foreign bank ATM card per 24 hour period, better to give it a few hours extra. My Thai bank ATM card I can put it in repeatedly and get 25,000 each few minutes.
