How Much Should I Pay A Thai Math Teacher?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I hope this is the right forum for this question, otherwise I'd ask the moderator to please move it.

I'm looking for A Thai High school math teacher who can help me to understand a particular math book. He or she should be able to teach in the English language and make house calls two or three times a week for a 1.5 hour session. What should I offer/pay as an hourly rate and where would be best to advertise?

Hope you guys can help me with some answers.

All the best

You are asking for a professional person i,e, an English speaking Thai mathematician.

If I was paying for the services of the individual I would expect to pay for a one to one session around a minimum of 750 baht per hour.

I am paid for my skills and ability, the maths tutor should be too.

You are not likely to get a lot of responses from this forum, however, there may be a few foreigners who know of someone who meets your criteria. I know that there are a number of people who have degrees in Engineering with excellent math skills, that might be a good place to start.

Also where are you located? It won't do much good if someone knows someone in Pattaya and you live in Chiang Mai! If you are in Bangkok, you might want to check with Universities near you. They would have teachers and maybe even graduate students who can help you.

Unless you need the person to be Thai, there are a lot of other nationals, especially Filipinos with degrees in Math and Engineering that might fit your needs.

Also, what is the level and type of math? Is it high school level, university level or post graduate level? Is it a particular type of math such as calculus, geometry, trigonometry or statistics?

There are plenty of Thai Math teachers around, the trick is to find one who can teach in English. You might try contacting a local High School or University.
