I see that the Miss Thailand pageants are still under the thumb of whitening cream producers as dark-skinned laides never get to enter. No disrespect intended to the new Miss Thailand World crowned last night, but she may not get past the 2nd round of her international contests, like many of her predecessors. It's high time that the pageants allow and encourage dark-skinned ladies to enter. There are so many beautiful, dark-skinned Thai ladies.

But this won't happen while the sponsors include the whitening cream producers. Whitening creams don't turn your dark skin white, and the truth would come out if a dark-skinned Miss Thailand was still dark after a year. When the sponsors are changed, the Miss Thailands will stand a chance of winning the international pageants, I feel.

Good luck with that, In Thailand and Asia in general, light skin is beauty (not my opinion by the way). An overweight Thai lady with creamy white skin has a better chance to win a beauty contest here than a dark skinned supermodel.

Western sensitivities have no sway here.

Why do you care anyway, it is all superficial. The good people are rarely beauty queens.

Yes, that's right. And Miss Thailand represents Thailand after being voted the most beautiful (or whatever that contest is) by people in her country, according the the standards here, whether promoted by beauty products or other cultural factors.

Probably the foreigners living in Japan are complaining that "their" Miss Japan has her teeth too straight and foreigners living in an African country are complaining that "their" miss African Country is too skinny.

Not everybody have the same standards about beauty...

This thread is absolutely pointless without pictures.

Can't find this year's contestants yet so here's a taster to be going on with....

Funny this thread came up.

Beacuse I just saw a few minutes of the show the other day.

What surprised me was all the girls with new noses.

I though the competition was for girls without any form for plastic/silcone.

But then again, I cant remember if I ever watched an entire show/competition, so new rules I guess.

Good point in my opinion ... the Thai pageants seem to be for a particular class of Hi-So Chinese-Thai white skinned ladies ... all beautiful I'm sure - but if it was thrown open to any skin tone and class then the chances of finding a world-class beauty may improve.

Bit like the Olympics - the more people who complete in a country the better then chances of having an international champion.

I read an article a while back saying plastic surgery is considered ok, but no transsexuals.

Found it:

Pageant preparation has brought thirty contestants of Miss Thailand World 2010 to Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket for their four-day “training camp.” Their show will be air live from Bangkok on August 14. During that training camp, they would learn everything they need to know to succeed in the beauty competition, aside from it, the contestants also will do some charity painting work at Baan Laem Sai School.

They arrive on the island yesterday for a three-night stay. This year’s pageant promises to serve up some bombshells, as chief organizer Nawat Itsornkraisil has this year given a blanket green light for plastic surgery.

“In previous years,” he says, “the contestants were always dubious about it and kept asking, ‘Can I do this? Is this much okay?’ So we have made it clear now with a blanket decision that plastic surgery is okay for this competition.”

It make the organizer of this event inhaled their relieve since they no longer have to scrutinize applicant to make sure that their beauty is the real one, they also would free from criticism if in case their beauty are indeed comes from plastic surgery. This decision indeed would trigger objection, especially from purists, still, these days many of the world’s beauty queens – including those from Venezuela and India – have had tummy tucks, butt lifts and boob jobs, or at least a little facial rearrangement.

In fact, the only thing the surgeons are barred from adjusting on Miss Thailand World contestants is gender, so ladyboys (transsexuals) are still not eligible to compete.

Meanwhile, as is said every year in such pageants worldwide, the organizers claim they are strictly emphasis on the contestants’ skills and talents.

“We’d love to see someone who can sing different styles and speak 10 languages,” Mr Nawat says, only half-joking.

Miss Thailand World 2009 Pongchanok “View” Kunklub fit the bill with her taekwondo moves, but this year we can expect a multilingual, singing, dancing, football-playing, Nobel-winning, maternal-but-adventurous Beyond Perfect Ten.

Personally i dont see the point in beauty contests per say, particularly if its become so plastic fantastic (as i dont think thats a good standard to set), but I do think its good that the focus isnt just on looks alone. If I were to choose a woman to represent my country, id wouldnt want her to be an airhead.

The only think that i say is that if we (the world) continues to have beauty contests, we should have a male equivalent. Its about time some gratuity displays of male flesh was paraded about in Mr World contests. :P OOH wait..i just googled "Mr World", and whattaya know..there is a Mr.World contest. ..but wheres the promotions for that?? :(

Read an article a year or two ago about the winner in China whom got kicked out after they discovered she had changed something artificially (plastic surgery).

Talking about traing camps.

Have a look at how Venezuela does it.

It's an entire industry with training facilities and all.

I actually prefer tanned Thai women, not the dark brown ones but just a nice

light brown tan..................... OK I am a little obsessed, but I think some of you

guys will know what I am talking about.

When I think of a Thai person I think of a smallish, brown skinned with

different facial features to that of European girl. These wanna be white

Thai girls are trying to compete with European women at their own game.

Just one thing................ white Thai women can not compete with a European hottie

when trying to look the way they do. Look the Euro hotties will have white skin,

but It will be a healthier white look plus accompanied with a shapely ass and

titties.

The tanned Thai's, Issan, whatever, they carry their own distict look, shape

facial features and you can recognise them as SE Asian.............................

gone off on one a bit here guys................. think I will leave it there................ :redcard2:

Lets face the truth, women look better then men, men love looking at beautiful women, men

are the dominant gender and so the age old act of women competing looks wise to get a man.

Hence why the Mr World is very low key compared to Miss World................ is that such a bad thing.
