Just had a few weeks in Thailand after a few years away, surprisingly my Thai was still pretty good but I've forgotten a lot.

Anyway, what's the correct way of saying "wasn't supposed to" or "wasn't going to" e.g:

"I wasn't going to come back to Phuket, but we changed our plans."

Also what's the best word for saying "respect", as in showing respect for someone.

Also do these phrases mean anything? (yes immature but I thought it was funny :)

ฝากอยู่

ฝากมี

thank you

I find conditional statements to be among the most difficult in Thai. The best I could do would be something like ตามหลักผมไม่ได้คิดจะกลับมาอยู่ที่ภูเก็ตแต่ tam lak phom mai dai khit thi cha klap ma yu thi Phukhet tee (then the reason that you changed your mind).

You may get better help from OP's.

For interpersonal respect I normally use นับถือ nap theu but เค่ารพ khao rob is also used and I cannot elicit from my "key informant" (also known as significant other) any difference in meaning or usage.

I wouldn't mind trying my hand at this, as my sentential grammar is notoriously poor

I guess I'd say something like this:

ที่แรกผม(คิด)ว่าจะไม่(กลับ)มา Phuket แต่เปลี่ยนใจแล้ว

tee raehk pom (kid) wa ja mai (glap) ma phuket dtae blian jai laew

At first, I thought will not (return) here phuket but changed mind already

OK, experts, let rip...

Ha ha, I assume those typos are purposeful. lol

Will you provide the contexts in which " ฝากอยู่" and "ฝากมี" are contained?

I imagine the OP is trying to be clever and render the English terms "fuc_k you" and "fuc_k me" into Thai script.

Haha nice one :P

Trying to be funny, I don't do clever.

I chuckled when I found ผู้ฝาก = depositor

That sounds about right. Using ตามหลัก is a bit odd. Direct translation for ตามหลัก is "accorrding to principle" or "by reason".

It would implied that you don't want to be back but have to be back for a reason that seem unfair to you.
