The group has been campaigning for red shirt supporters to vote for the opposition Pheu Thai Party in the next general election in order to bring former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra back to Thailand.

Weren't a few people saying that the red shirts weren't about Thaksin?

Apparently that group forgot that the People Power Party WAS IN POWER - when Thaksin was forced to leave, to avoid jail time. He left during the summer 2008 Olympics - and who was PM at that time? His own corrupt brother in law. 55555555 Priceless.

Yes, there have been several saying that. They also some saying that Pheu Thai Party isn't connected to the Reds or to Thaksin.

It's amazing how many multiple postings of those three erroneous assertions can get dispelled with a few simple lines from the Reds themselves.

About two weeks ago k. Jatuporn c.s. laid red roses at the gates of prisons were UDD leaders and other red-shirts are held. He promised the UDD would do this every week.

Anyone out here who knows if this has been done ? Should be two times already by now.

He's made so many promises and pronouncements and threats and claims over the past months, he can hardly be expected to keep track of them all.

Well, to his defense he didn't say he would do, just that the UDD would continue with this. Maybe the budget for red roses run out. Time for a new campaign seeking donations, this time with receipts signed by k. Jatuporn himself. That is if he's not too busy with the few tapes we're still waiting for ;)

the flowers (and an arson threat) are back today:

Red shirts rally in front of Bangkok Remand Prison

Some 20 red shirts rallied in front of the Bangkok Remand Prison Tuesday to provide moral support to their leaders being detained there, FM 100.5 radio station and INN reported.

The INN reported that the red-shirt people started gathering in front of the prison at 8:31 am and laid some flowers there.

The FM100.5 station reported that about 20 soldiers and police officers were deployed to keep order in front of the prison after prison officials received arson threats.

Army commander concerned over next Red Shirt rally on October 14

BANGKOK – Gen Udomdej Sitabutr, commander of Thailand's First Army Region, said Monday he is concerned about the next rally planned by the 'Red Shirt' United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) on Thursday, saying the army has been closely monitoring situation after intelligence reports indicate that an armed group plans to create a disturbance in the capital.

In response to an earlier statement of Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) Tharit Pengdit about an armed force plotting to create a disturbance in Bangkok, Gen Udomdej said he also received the report and that National Police Chief Gen Wichean Potphosree will assign the main duty to the special branch of the Royal Thai Police. He said the army will monitor the situation and are on stand-by to support the police and to cooperate in intelligence work.

Gen Udomdej said the police and the army had personnel in varied areas and are at work seeking information about a possible move to instigate violence.

However, the public should help the authorities as Bangkok and its surrounding areas are vast areas with a high population density.

Cooperation from the public would help officials to work efficiently, he said, asking the public to inform officials about irregularities.

Army Region 1 can be contacted by phone at 1899.

He said the anti-government rally on Sunday on Ratchadamnoen Road was held in an orderly under the legal framework, but there was intrusion on traffic lanes affecting motorists. He asked the protesters to hold activities that would not have an impact on the public.

Asked whether the next Red Shirt demonstration movement planned for Oct 14 should more strictly comply with the security law, he said the Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES) was concerned about that and instructed the police to explain to the protesters to hold their activities legally under the emergency decree put in place in Bangkok and three adjacent provinces including Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan.
