Visa Type Change

Featured Replies

My first visa renewal is coming up in Nov. Is it possible to change from an O-A to another type of Visa? As much info as possible is appreciated. As an artist I'd like to be able to display and (hopefully) sell some work which is not accepted under the O-A status.

An O-A visa is issued in home country for retirement reasons and is normally extended for retirement inside Thailand after it expires/stay ends. So if you have an alternative reason for extension of stay such are marriage to a Thai, Thai Child or work that type of extension of stay would be available and allow a work permit.

Thanks for replying, but... doesn't a work permit entail being employed and having proof of work/income? As a freelance artist I would be nothing more than self employed and have no proof of income, if any at all. As all us starving artists are aware.... I'd just like to have the peace of mind and freedom to pursue some artistic endeavors without risk of complications.

Yes and suspect you might have a problem in that regard but your question was what visa change/extension of stay would allow a work permit to be issued so was addressing that.
