Visa Run Suggestion Needed

Recommended Posts

Hey, so if my visa expires in Thailand, let's say I had a SE Tourist Visa, I could go into Laos and get a new tourist visa in a day?

I guess you use SE for "single entry" but have never seen anyone use that before. You could go to Vientiane or other Thai Consulate to apply for a tourist visa and if you apply in the morning it is normally ready the next afternoon. So it would take two days.

You could also cross the border and immediately return on a 30 day entry without visa.

And remember that if you enter Thailand with a single-entry tourist visa, which gives you permission to stay for 60 days, you can apply locally for a 30-day extension (costs THB 1,900), which means that you need to leave Thailand at the latest on the 89th day after your arrival.

I got a double entry tourist visa anyway... hah meh oh well.

Then that possibility of 30-day extension goes for each of the two entries, if that's what you wish to do.

Enjoy your stay in Thailand!

Thanks and I will! :o A quick question for people out there... what kind of luggage/baggage should I bring with me? I do plan on moving about Thailand a bit. Not sure how much I'll be travelling around though but want to check out Phuket/Koh Pha-ngan and maybe the North too.

A few comfortable clothes, shoes, shirts, make them in one bag, and don’t forget to bring a big box of good quality condom as well.

Hah condoms?! All that clothes sounds good. I'll buy a nice travel backpack.

Excellent stuff richard! Could I get a new business visa in laos if the old one is about to expire and would i need the same letters etc to apply even though i already have a business visa.

Thanks in advance

The same letters would be fine to apply for 2nd business visa, but you must have proof that you did try to apply for a work permit from the previous business visa that you’ve got from them.

I did a run to Kota Kinabalu

Flew Air Asia paid 2200 Baht Return incl tax

Stayed at Promenade Hotel (Very Nice) 60RM (600 Baht)

Cheap Beer, Cheap Food, Very Friendly People, Beautiful Beach.

Taxis are expensive there compared to Bangkok however and so are Spirits.

Would definately recommend

Did you fly from BKK to Kota Bharu?

Did 2200 baht include the airport tax as well?

I have used another service in Khao San which charged only B450 for the bus (return), of course nothing is included except the bus, you have to get your own visa (or get it at the border, they will help you for an inflated rate), and at the border they asked us to pay B300 to bribe the police in order to let us go out and back to Thailand on the SAME day. This is another rip-off, some people on the bus paid, but some refused, including me. Those who refused to pay the bribe was okay to do so, but had to wait for an hour or two at the border police immigration office. A torture!

So the lesson... the next time I just joined the service of Jack Golf, they charged a bit more, but everything seems to be very smooth except that we made a mistake to cross the border on Saturday!! (Thais flooded the Cambodian casino!) so we had to wait for another hour or two at the Thai immig dept (because they have a new policy and Jack Golf claimed that they still couldn't find a way to bribe the police, YET!).

My visa is going to be expired very soon, I may either do another visa run by Jack Golf (not Khao San anymore) or fly to other country to get a tourist visa.

You guys should try doing the Ranong Visa Run! Its buses, samlors, hassle and motorbikes and THEN longtails across the Border Estuary to Victoria Point in Burma!

$5 to the Border Gimps then back again! Its a cheap border run but a wild ride across that estuary!

I posted my experience on another board:

====================================================

Although I never saw the need to pay an extra THB 700 for an organized visa run tour, I also joined one of these tours last Saturday.

As I don't like the feeling of being cramped in a small van, I decided to give Jackgolf.com a try. Instead of a van, this travel agency uses a double decker VIP bus for the same price (2000 baht) as those companies using a van.

The bus leaves at 5.30am (there is also a 7.00am departure) from Suk Soi 12. Simply give your passport when entering the bus and a staff will come to your seat personally to collect 5 signatures on the usual forms. They will take care of filling in the rest of the papers.

The bus is equipped with a large (60? inch) screen where DVDs are shown on (we had three movies) and wide comfortable seats. You receive a free soft drink and a bottle of water.

On weekdays this tour visits the border at Poi Pet. However, on weekends and holidays (when Poi Pet gets really crowded) Jack Golf goes to Ban Laem, near Poi Pet.

We arrived at 10.00 am at Ban Laem. Ban Laem is nothing compared to the horrors of Poi Pet. Only the members of our tour (around 12 people) were the ones to 'process'. We received a buffet lunch at Ban Laem in the local casino and were on our way back to Bangkok at 11:00 am.

Dropoff in Bangkok (3 pm) was at MRT Petchburi (and stops also at Asoke BTS and Rama III).

The service is quick and courteous. Recommended!

almost 10 hours trip, you call it quick. I can make it by the cheap public bus. and I don't have to get up as early as 4 or 5 O'clock in the morning as well. do some homework before you recommend something, please!

Well, clever boy, please make me an itenary with schedule times. Any route will do!

Then we'll see if you should have opened your trap before thinking.

Here's my previous schedule to Poi Pet (I even wonder if there is a public bus service to Ban Laem).

Leave home to Morchit: 6:00 am

Bus to Aran: 7.30 am

Arrival Aran: 11.30 am

Arrival Poi Pet 11.45 am

Visa formalities: (most favourite, most likely not applicable): 1:00 pm

Bus to Bangkok: 2 pm

Arrival Morchit (Most favourable): 6.30 pm

Arrival at home: 7.30 pm

That's 13 1/2 hours .... Now tell me how you do it faster. And I even don't want to think about the time you'll be waiting in line ....

But if you're a poor bastard, please take the cheap bus and leave us more fortunate people alone with your silly and surly comments!

From your first post I presumed you were BTF's Dr. Love. The tone of this last post removed all doubt. Spare us at TV your typical egotistical venom, won't you?

I am glad you've cleared that up! Good work, detective Conan! But isn't revealing members' identity or other aliases against the rules of TV? And what makes you think you can rule what other members are allowed to say? Don't like it? Don't read it!

Now we know who I am, can you reveal your identity on BTF?

BTW, what was your contribution in this thread? Did you justify Mr. Vermin's flame?

That is 11 hours, not the 13.5 hours as you said. But if you leave a few hours later and arrive at border after 2:30 PM, it only costs you half an hour out and half an hour in. Then you can make the whole trip in 10 hours. Look around this forum, many members done that already.

I calculate the time from leaving home to arriving at home. Isn't that 13.5 hours?

Furthermore, it is my experience (I've done this around 30 times) that:

- around that time (14:00 and later) most Angkor Wat tourists arrive at Poi Pet and create a chaos at the border (both Cambodia EXIT as well as Thailand IN).

- the last train leaves at 13:40 and the last bus from Aran at approx 15:00

- there is no public bus service from Morchit to Aran anymore (this was confirmed by Morchit staff twice, but don't know it's true).

Actually, it doesn't matter.

The whole point was that Mr. Vermin said the whole trip could be done in less than 10 hours with cheap public transport. But until now he still hasn't proved that.

As I said, the Jackgolf visa run is a little more expensive than do-it-yourself, but quick and very comfortable

I never said it was the fastest but highly recommended. For me, it is the best visa run provider out here (the 5:30 departure on weekends). Plus the staff is very courteous.

Period.

Jack Golf departing from soi 12 5.30am (not Mon) & 7.30am @2000bht is still cheaper than the others that are up to 2200 and 2400bht now. But if you dont mind local buses and can speak a bit of Thai is worth going yourself. Just remember to take a pen! And give some change to the kids. Singapore is my Fav though thanks to Airasia. 80sgd for Non-Immigrant and 50sgd for a tourist visa. Singapore looks like a cross between Brisbane and Bangkok :o Go see a show while your there at "The Esplanade".

I don't know anyone in BKK charges a visarun service for 2200 or 2400 baht now, there are four companies in Bangkok Post, they all charge the same 2K, no ++ at all.

On the way home, if you stop at Cat House (Second floor on the left Nana), you might end up with a 20 hours visa trip.

By the way, just read the Bangkok Post, JG advertisement says: Depart 5:30 AM ~ Return 1:30 PM

=====================================================

I once travelled to Bangkok through Udon Thani. It became a 150 hour visa run.

FYI The 1.30pm is for the weekday tour to Poi Pet. In the weekends Jackgolf goes to Ban Laem which is about 45 minutes further away than Poi Pet.

That's my experience too. All are 2,000 baht.

The 2200 or 2400 baht is for some tours from Pattaya (which is closer to Poi Pet than Bangkok) but is done by VIP Mercedes van. The cheapest I saw in Pattaya was THB 1800.

Corner of Radjamri & Phetchburi rd's I was given a leaflet for a visarun from Tesco On Nut was 2400. And the other 2200 was in The Bangkok Post obveously you don't read that paper.

Last month got Jack Golf 7.30am and returned 3pm (normally 4.30pm) Only go to Thai in and outs.
