I could be wrong here, but, I don't think there is such a place as Nai Harn.

There is a Nai Harn beach which is administered by Rawai Or Bor Tor.

It's all Tambon Rawai.

Nit picking, the thread is about the threats of being mugged in this area not a local geography lesson! Get real!!!

If alone and a clip on pepper spray in your belt is the only way to go. You see how much the screaming was worth in terms of help.

Let him take your bag while you reach for the spray. Empty the bottle in his face while you keep a certain distance. Get some distance to the mugger and scream for help. He will for sure not go anywhere for a good time. More than enough to register the number plate, maybe enough time to puncture his tyre if you got a small knife or a scissor and to get to a nearby house. Maybe enought time to pull your cell phone out of the pocket and take movie of it while he is struggeling in pain and blindness.

Girls alone out late or early in the morning walking or on bicylce need to take some precautions. I would have kicked his fukcin teeth out in a split of a second. Someone need to put and end to these muggings around that area. They re terrorising the whole people in that area.

Phuket police warn of snatch bandits

PHUKET: Chalong Police are urging all women riding motorbikes to be wary of snatch bandits after a young woman had her gold necklace stolen in broad daylight yesterday.

Thitiporn Somjan, a 23-year-old from Sakhon Nakhon, told police she was riding along Soi Na Yai with a work colleague at about 3pm when she was robbed.

They were returning to their office at Chao Fa Thani residential estate on Chao Fa West Road after shopping at the Julaphan store on Chao Fa East Road.

“I was not driving fast. I was carrying some of my shopping between my legs and some in the bike basket when I noticed a young guy wearing a helmet trailing us,” Ms Thitiporn said.

“Then he pulled alongside and grabbed my T-shirt collar, nearly touching my breasts. Then he grabbed my two-saleung gold necklace and sped off. While he was riding away he looked back as if he was laughing at me,” said the victim.

She said the necklace was worth about 10,000 baht.

Although frightened, Ms Thitiporn remembered the thief’s motorbike license plate number and asked her friend to call the police.

Chalong Police set up checkpoints throughout the area, but failed to find the suspect.

“Sometimes criminals use fake license plates,” observed Chalong duty officer Boonlert Onklang.

Police are continuing their search for the suspect.
