Bank account frozen
Kasikorn refused to open an account for me when I moved to CM from US because I didn't yet have a 12 month extension stamp in my passport. After I got my extension I went back and opened an account with passport (+stamp), my Thai tax ID and a certificate of residence from Imm. I used the same documentation for SCB and also Krungsri banks. I opened those as backup in case of difficulties with Thai banking. Also both of those banks offer better interest in non-fixed accounts than most. My first account in Thailand was with BKK bank so I stayed with them for almost 5 years. In recent months they stopped doing "cash advance" on foreign debit cards. I'm going to abandon them now. -

Others have chosen to throw in the towel. Last week, the US and China agreed to extend, by another 90 days, a pause on tariffs that would have soared to a catastrophic 145%, averting a worst-case scenario – a complete halt of trade between the world’s two largest economies. But the pause has done nothing for many American small-business owners paying the tariffs it left in place, such as a minimum 30% duty for goods from China or a 50% import tax on products made from foreign steel and aluminium.
