I have a non 'B' marriage visa issued in Thailand that is due to expire next week. Can I get an extension from the immigration office?

If so;

How long an extension & does it matter which office I go to?

Thanks.

There is no such thing - do you perhaps have a one year extension of stay issued by Immigration? To extend that you need to meet the same conditions each year and do at the same location that you live in.

I am letting my marriage visa lapse and hopefully getting an education visa instead, but i'm waiting for the paperwork to come through. once it does i can pop over to laos & get the ed. visa. if it doesn't come through by the time my old visa expires, i've been told i can get an extension.

Just checking what these guys say is correct, although my visa is not one of those mentioned.

In case you cannot get the paperwork on time before your current visa expires, you are able to extend that visa at the Thailand Immigration Department @ THB 1,900. For an on arrival visa or a 30-day tourist visa, you will get 7 more days. For a 60-day tourist visa, you will get 30 more days.

If you are married to a Thai there is a 60 day extension of stay available. Will require spouse and marriage paperwork as well as photo and 1,900 baht fee/TM.7 form.
