How close to departure date do I need to go to immigration to get an exit permit? I'm travelling at the end of the month, but I'll be really busy starting next week, so ideally, I'd like to get it now. Does the permit have a date on it or can I go get it now and use it at the end of October?

There is no such thing as an "exit permit" requirement from immigration. Just as long as you have not overstayed your permission to stay stamp, you can simply go to the airport and leave. Are you confused and inquiring about a re-entry permit?

Believe you are on a 90 day visa entry so get where you live. If it were an extension of stay you would have to obtain at office providing the extension of stay.

Do it as early as possible - dates do not matter on form. Cost is 1,000 baht.

The date on the form will be your late November permitted to stay until date - you must return before then to use it.

Thanks. Yes, I'm on a 90-day visa that ends at the end of November (and will be extended again at that point). Trip is at the end of October.

So enter a trip in 7 days. There is no such requirement in regulations, obviously, and most offices would like you to obtain early (whenever making an extension of stay is a good time to do it and have never seen a report of it being refused).
