A urin test in public? jeeeeezzzzzz, you think you have heard it all before and then some and then this happens! are they actually sent out from there station to do that?

It was a quiet soi, so there wasn't anyone else around. They couldn't find anything for me to pee in at first, so they searched around through a pile of old bottles and eventually asked me to pee into the waterproof packaging the tester and the liquid dropper came in. They told me to go into the corner of the small car park in front of my apartment block to do it. Yes, they are obviously sent out from their station to do that.

Sounds very fishy to me. You need to pee in a sterile cup for the test to be valid ... looking around for something for you to pee in doesn't sound right. Doesn't sound like they have ever done this before either because it makes no sense to carry a partial urine test kit if your intention is to test somebody. Sounds like you were coming out of a known drug building or they have got their eye on you. I have never heard of such a thing given the circumstances you described but I guess anything is possible.

I'm definitely not someone they would have there eye on. I would like to consider myself a sensible, smartly dressed forty-four year old guy and I'm 100% certain it wouldn't be to do with my apartment block. I think it was solely a matter of being in the wrong place and the wrong time, but yes, it didn't seem professional at all. The kit was in this white sealed packet which he brought out of his pocket. All it contained was the plastic testing tray and the liquid dropper. I can only assume they are issued with them. I'm still feeling really livid by the experience.

Under such circumstances you might be framed for anything. You might have suggested to go to the police station. Would keep you out of bed for a while longer, but for sure would be more fun for all concerned ;)

Being framed was the thing which I was really worried about. I didn't dare take my eyes off my wallet when he was going through it and also while I was watching the results of the urine test appear.

What will they do when they witness a traffic violation?

A) Will they just continue reading a newspaper and smoking their cigs?

B) Smile at you and cheer you on?

C) Stop you and admonish you not to do it again?

D) None of the above.

Opinions, please!

I try so hard to defend Thailand and its people when others ridicule but how do you defend such lunacy???

The only thing I can say is you have to respect the Thai people as there would likely be pure chaos in the streets of other major city if they had such a ticket holiday. But am sure nothing changed on the streets of BKK today .. and it remained organized chaos and there was not a significant increase to the number of mo-cyes riding the sidewalks.

And how many men, women and children will die on the roads today to commemorate this Police Day? :annoyed:

Insanity reigns.
