If they really want to do something they should try to trace where the CP comes from. Who supplied the CD's. And still the question: who buys these CD's ? How come we never heard about or saw CP a few years ago ?

I suspect the possibility of an extortion scam of the guilty customers with police involvement (a group of people that would never complain). If the police turned a blind eye, its fair to assume there was a money element, so the question is how deep, how corrupt ...

I had the pleasure (not) of waiting in Lumpini police station to fill in the details of a traffic accident a few years ago.

Whilst waiting to have my statement taken I was surprised by the youngish (maybe 25) desk clerk, who had more gold rings with rubies, Rolex, amulets and chains than Don king could contemplate, was ordering a new Mercedes Benz over the phone.

Must be paid well at Lumpini station.

Lumphini police station being the one with 50 or so road prostitutes directly outside it every night.

As opposed to the Silom or Nana areas which have hundreds in open establishments.

By the way, are the Sukhumvit street stalls that were accused of selling CP even in their area? It seems they'd be closer to Asok police station.

Sounds like this might just be a cover for a power play inside the Bangkok police force.

I'm a bit surprised about all this, because Lumpini police station was the only one in Thailand about which I had anything positive to say, as they have 2 free english translators, and have been generally very helpful and efficient when I was there.

Come on people. Why so negative and cynical? (With reason I am sure)

I see this as a positive. The fact that they are attempting to take child pornography off the street, whilst slapping the wrists of the BIB's that leave it there is a good thing in my book.

Not the complete solution that I would hope for, but at least it is more than they were doing last week.

Still only the middle man though. Rubl is right. Who makes it and who buys it. They are the real scum

Tea money is more important for the police than being buddhist. Being a buddhist does not pay for the benz.

Thailand is a Buddhist country. The police seems to forget.

Must be that small pocket of police who are maybe Christian or Islamic. No Bhuddist in Thailand would ever lie, cheat or steal. (Well, maybe the Farang ones, but they don't count because Bhuddism is exclusively for Asian looking people)

The only thing some of the Thai police forget is what they are in the job for.

Police work should not be about lining the pocket of yourself and others at the expense of what is right.

Most of whom are double the age of consent. And most of whom are seeking an engagement, unlike children being forced into sex.

I think most here will agree that legal prostitution makes sense (even if that "legality" is achieved by turning a blind eye), whereas kiddie porn should under no circumstances ever be legal.

They confiscated the plastic CDs to melt down to make giant Plastic Waving Police.

If they were really doing their jobs they would have arrested all the police from Lumpini Station who are on the take and turning a blind eye to child porn.

It is offered at Pantip and all over Bkk if the sellers know you or you are falang just walking past their Back Room.

Every time there is a raid the cops raiding warn them first.

Seems all are related by the Baht Tribe!

I never reply to ANYTHING I see or read in this forum as most of the replies I read or see are to weird to comment on, but OPEN YOUR EYES beach road is loaded with CP I see it everyday I walk down there and have reported it before but NOTHING EVER HAPPENS>

Hi RugbyPaul2. May I ask, who did you report it too? Were you given a copy of the police report with your and their signature? If you had the report or, if the police representative who refused to accept it did not give you one, you had the name of the police representative, you could march straight to the public prosecutor and file criminal charges directly with them.

The public prosecutor is full of 30-35 year old future judges, with the right minerals to make their name out of a case like this. They will absolutely follow up on your complaint, and make a point of doing so before any of the other prosecutors in their office get a chance.

You're the third person I've given this advice to, but I don't think anyone so far has filed a complaint as they're worried about repercussions; even if, during the hearing, your anonymous statement would be a witness, not you.

How can a police report with your signature be anonymous? Or criminal charges naming a police officer who refuses to accept a report? Or is it OK to file charges using a false name in Thailand? and a false address....

Some people seem to be under the impression that in Bangkok it is only openly sold on Sukhumvit and that the targetted punters are non-Thais. Actually, there is even more available in the Klong Thom, Charoen Krung areas, which for the most part is catering to locals, i.e. Thais and Chinese-Thais. The police stations in those areas are also known for turning a blind eye to the trade in illegal goods.

Do not know why so many people are so shocked.

There is no news here but pretty much an everyday life of a police station.

If you ever been robbed and got the CCTV you can not even get them to view it, because they could not care less.

Surawong police station is no different with Patpong Markets.

All pretty much the same, they make money where ever possible for as long as possible.

This is good news, surely??? Judging by the tone of most of these responses, you'd never guess though...

It is good news, and also shows that some actions to bring the ugly issue into light as done recently can pay off...

I have lived in BKK for just a short while 2 years and nothing surprises me anymore, I was sick of being approached to buy cp in Suk rd so I went to Asoke police and complained, this is what I was told, I could NOT make a report unless I bought, veiwed and made sure it was actually CP as usual I walked away with my normal <deleted> expression, who in their right mind would buy, view then report to the cops in Thailand, call me cynical but I think WE all know what happens in LOS and its getting worse day by day..
