I am new to this forum and am unsure about privacy issues. I recently discovered that I have a cousin living in Thailand an wish to make contact with him - but how to do it? I realise that disclosing names & adresses, etc. may be against the rules so I am asking for advice as to how I go about finding family in Thailand. I would appreciate any help in this matter.

Missing persons threads are indeed not allowed.

One way to start to find someone is with his embassy. He might be registered with his embassy and in some cases the embassy can contact him, depending on their privacy rules, to see if it is OK with him to give you his contact details.

unless the cousin is thai, in which case u would have to know the amphur,or village, sometimes a last name can help (just discoverd that my husband for instance, and all the poeple in their area have similar last names id'ing them with that area...just a thought really)

You'll most likely need to hire a private investigator if you do not have the necessary contact details yourself. If you just google Thailand private investigator you'll get dozens of hits, all in English. There is a large demand for services such as these by foreigners who want to investigate girls to whom they are sending money, so lots of English speaking options.

I would just email a few of them with all the information you have about your cousin and let them tell you how easy or difficult the task will be.
