sbk Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Reading about the terrible flooding in Central Thailand, curious as to reports from people in this forum. Are you flooded? If so, where are you and how badly?
Crossy Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Our (step-sons) restaurant in Ban Pathum is under 1/2 a metre, so closed for the duration, they've moved all the kit upstairs and are using the boat to get to the road. Last time they flooded all the plastic chairs floated away, I expect to be buying more chairs next month (as well as paying to clear fertile Chao Phraya mud out of the stove etc.). All hands are filling sand bags, got to keep the water from crossing the road into thousands of acres of rice paddy. Pathum Thani immigration (Sam Khok) is also only accessible by boat. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
kelboy Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 not so bad in SUKOTHAI i think everything is just going past us very fast which makes a change. sorry about the rest of you. :crying: . kda:passifier: :drunk:
tutsiwarrior Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 on the 3260 between Songphinong and changwat Suphanburi the water in the klongs was almost to road level on 14 October and there's been a lot of rain since then...but no one flooded out locally from what I could see from the road...
kelboy Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Hi all went out on my crosser today and went a few km and had to turn back and the water is rising fast, but i was off road , but if it rains again then i think we are in deep sh-t kda.. B)
Atmos Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 we're in south Sa Kaeo province; nothing to report here except sunshine the last 5 days. According to news media there is flooding, or at least there was flooding, about 90km away at Aranyaprathet, and I was told Pangsida National Park 70km away is/was closed to the public last week due to risk of flash floods , but it's been dry enough here for the farmers to be burning off the roadside grass today, the nearest river has dropped noticeably, think we have been very fortunate (so far)
Spee Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 We're in western Phetchabun province about 20km NE of the Rt11/Rt113 intersection. Partner reports lots of low lying water and some roof leakage, but no flooding on the property. We're lucky to be about 1-1.5m above the roadway. I suspect some of the lower lying areas in and around the moo bahn have not been so lucky. It's also now much too watery and muddy to get out to the farm to check out the mango crop. Hopefully everything survived and we will be able to harvest before the crop over-ripens on the trees.

Since then they have spent a lot of money around here on flood preperation work near the Historical park Sukhothai. We have had nothing of flooding here but go out further near New Sukhothai thre are still problems. Maybe other provinces have had the money and not done anything yet.

AmeriThai Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 We built a house in the province of Saraburi. We aren't there at the moment, and have a few relatives who stay there. They said there was plenty of water completely surrounding the property but it wasn't very deep. There's a small klong nearby. Fortunately, we had the foresight to have fill dirt brought in to raise the elevation before construction. Our house has remained high and dry. Not sure about the other neighbors though.
nong38 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Hello everyone, I am in Nakhon Sawan City, all ok at the moment, Chao Praya Riverside market is almost all closed with sand bags at the openings, water 3' below top step, also some empty 55 gallon oil barrells not sure what they are supposssed to do, ward off evil spirits? The food market has moved into Kosi Road and other nearby roads. Flooding under the road bridge over the Ping to Pitsanulok (117), that road has got pot holes so watch it. Some big holes appeared by thw side of the main bangkok road just before the road bridge over the Chao Praya. No rain today and non forecast for next few days so maybe this is as bad as it gets.
draggons Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Wife went to check on our house at Maharat, just north of Ayutthaya yesterday. Have nearly a metre of water in the downstairs rooms Happened three years ago and lasted for a month!!! Nothing you can do except wait till it recedes, hose it all out and give it a fresh coat of paint.
billd766 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 We are up in Klong Lan 65 km from Khampaeng Phet near the Mae Wong national park. We live on the slope and have been OK though the klong is eating new banks along its course. Klong Lan main road was flooded last week for a day but other than that it is fine here.
