Hello From Ivanov

Featured Replies

Hello all:

Have lived off and on in SamutSakhon with my Thai wife and daughter for about twelve years now. I am an industrial electronics engineer from Spokane Wa. Just made the big 50 so I am going for a R-visa.

I have a Honda VTX 1800 criuser motorcycle. Anyone have any ideas how I can get it in to the country with out paying twice the purchase price in duty taxes?

I have been told to ride it in but that works only for 6 months and I would really prefer to be able to register and licence it legally!

Also been told it is covered by the r-visa with my housold articals but I can not find anything in writing.

I know there has to be some bike owners out there. How do you do it???

Thanks for the great site! Ivanov

The older I get the more I realize, the less I know.                                      David

Maybe you could bring the bike over like in the Johnny Cash song "One piece at a time." Other than this advice I can't help you.

That won't work I'm afraid.

You cannot legally register a vehicle unless you have a tax/duty receipt
