Hello,

I recently broke my leg in Koh Phangan, I was trasferred to Koh Samui in the same night to have a surgery.

I have been in hospital one Week and now I have returned to Bangkok.

In Koh Phangan I was given crutches like theese: http://evergreen-rentals.com/images/crutches.jpg

I feel not very safe with them. I would prefere crutches like theese: http://www.national-med.com/images/Forearm%20Crutch.jpg

In Koh Samui i could not trade them. They told me new ones would cost about 6000 Baht which I think is way to much.

Does anyone know where in Bangkok I can trade or buy cheap forearm Crutches: http://www.national-med.com/images/Forearm%20Crutch.jpg

Thanks in advance

Hi Jack,

I work with people who occasionally need crutches, and sorry to say I have looked and looked and looked for the very same forearm type, without success for a couple of years. Maybe there is a new business for them, as for sure they are a lot better. The hospitals I sometimes work with seem oblivious to the forearm type. If you find some please let me know, and I will do the same.

Regards.

they both have their benefits, the Thai crutches hurt under the arms, the Canadian crutches may start to hurt under the elbows.

Fascino stores and other larger medical supply stores will sell them.

i got some at bumrungrad hospital. They seem to have very good quality. I paid a bit more than 3000 Baht. Not cheap but affordable and as i need them for about 2 months i think it was a good investment.

I feel more safe with the forearm crutches because i can move them more freely in more directions. I nearly fell down a few times with the others.

I needed crutches about 3 years ago and found a great hospital supplies shop near Victory Monument that had this style (and more)

Don't know the name of the place, or the road, but any taxi driver should be able to get you there.
