Mario2008
The Dutch part of the international travel agency TUI, which brands in the Netherlands are amongst others ARKE and KRAS has announced that it will start a campaign together with the WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals) against the suffering of large mammels in the tourist industry. Elephanst will not be excluded from excursions being offered, but only shown in their natural enviorement. The aim is at elephant shows, particulairly in Asia and Thailand. It is hoped other will follow the example. To get the elephants to perform tricks they often get a harsh and cruel training. Elephants can pull up to 1,000 kilo, but not carry heavy loads on their back. During rights with tourists multiple people are sitting on their back, the sadel and weight causing wounds and too much strain on the back, according to the WSPA.
