Cardamom

Featured Replies

Where can i find and buy cardamom/cardamom seeds in BKK? I know there is a kind of "Siam cardamom", among others, but am interested on any kind i can find, because i was told every kind has similar effects on food.

Personally, i would prefer to buy it in a shopping mall shop, rather than in a market, because it is less hard to find someone english speaking...

widely available ! any supermarket or spice stand or curry paste stands at fresh markets carry it. ask for กระวาน [grawaan]the thai cardamon is called in English black cardamon

indian cardamon seeds are a staple of indian cuisine and should be available in shops where indian spices are sold...someone said that the shop on the ground floor to the rear of the Rembrandt hotel on sukhumvit soi 18 is a good bet...

If you want from shopping mall, downstairs in paragon next to foodhall/supermarket there is a spice shop.

Yep, in whole form 'Spices R Us' at the Rembrandt has it (accessible from sois 18 and 20 I think), as does a small shop about half a kilometer down Sukhumvit 23 on the right. There's also places around the Pahurat Indian community area, obviously. I'm pretty sure I've also seen it in ground form at Villa near Sukhumvit 33, presumably any other Villa too, and probably Foodland as well. Get looking n cooking.

You can also find it in a few shops in Bangkok's Bang Rak neighbourhood, such as Golden Spices on Charoen Krung near the intersection with Silom Rd. And in Phaurat, Bangkok's 'Little India.'

I might be a bit late but Villa supermarket sell them.
