Today did the extension to my Visa based on marriage. I took the following copies of documents with me (2 times)

TM7

Passport

TM6 Departure card

My Tambien Baan

Letter from Embassy about Income (Original plus copy)

Photos

Wife's ID Card

Wife's Tambien Baan

Marriage Certificate

Marriage Registration

Map to condo

Affirmation to Marry

Also I was asked by the Officer for copies of my Bank books to ascertain I had money to live on whilst in Thailand, this seems to be a new requirement although not listed, this is the second time I have been asked for them.

Also the wife, we signed the usual documents about where we met, we were not asked any questions, as they probably remembered us from last time. Paid the 1900 baht fee.

All in all about 30 minutes, checking the documents filling in other forms and paying, not bad really.

One big mistake I made was using a black pen to sign everything, the Officer told me it could be mistaken

for photocopies, and that in future I should use a blue pen.

Back on 28 Dec to get my Extension.

Did they ask for the Affirmation to Marry or did you give it to them? I recall a few reports of Immi asking for it and this could be a bit of a nuisance for me as mine is in Chiang Rai and I'm in Bangers!!!

They did not ask for it, I honestly admit that I was stupid and left it in the folder, when I should have taken it out.

IS it true it can only be extended once.

Thanks in advance.

We are talking about a 12 month Extension of Stay based on having a Thai Wife.

You apply at Immigration in Thailand and you can re apply every year if you wish.

I have a yellow tambien Baan as I am the owner of the Condo, and my wife cannot have her name on it as she is already on another Tambien Baan. The place where she is on the Tambien baan is her mothers property, my wife cannot change it for her brothers name as he is too young.

Believe your wife should change her listing to a blue tambien Baan for your property now if you plan to stay there. Not sure what your reference to wife's brother is about.

My wife is on a Blue Tambien Baan already (thai), however Thais cannot appear on 2 tambien baans, therefore I appear on one for the address we currently live at.

My wife cannot change the name to her brothers on the Tambien Baan she is on, as he is under a certain age, and by Thai law cannot be named on it.

I posses two tambien baans one yellow for me, and a blue one, ready for my wife when her brother comes of age.

I'm not sure about that one. Being named as the owner on the tabien baan and being listed as resident at that address are two different things.

Have not understood your point, sorry.

2 Condos 2 Tambien Baans, one yellow for me and one blue for her indoors

My point is if your wife really need to be registered as living at the mothers house and cannot simply be listed as the owner of the house but having residency elsewhere.

Some people own more than 1 house and are registered as the owner, but will have their official residence at only one of their houses.

Okay the house is my MIL second house (where my wife is currently on the Blue book), her official residence is in our condo, but she appears as the owner of the MIL second house.

You also need an Non immigrate 'O' visa before applying for a 12 month extension to stay as having a Thai wife.

As said apply immigration in the area your place of stay comes under.

As for paperwork many immigration offices have different guidelines best to ring or asked when your there what they require.

Been here renewing for six years and they have always wanted something else, something different, every year or they may think up something while your there. :D

My mate has been here 9years and immigration went to his house to check.

You must be here on a non immigrant visa entry - it does not have to be type "O".

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM)
