Brit allegedly attempts suicide with broken bottle, fire

Boonlua Chatree

A British man allegedly attempted suicide by cutting himself with a broken bottle and setting his condominium on fire.

Sean Knight, 37, was taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital Nov. 12 after police and paramedics responded to a fire at the Star Beach Condominium. No one was injured in the blaze, which was extinguished in 10 minutes.

Knight’s girlfriend, Som-a-nong Anumat, 28, told police she and the British man had argued and that Knight supposedly had tossed her belongings out of the apartment. She told police it was then she noticed smoke coming from the condo.

Som-a-nong claimed she found her boyfriend injured after she got someone to help force open the door, but chose to wait for medics to arrive, rather than assist him.

Police speculate Knight was distraught over the quarrel with his girlfriend then tried to commit suicide by slashing himself with a broken bottle and setting his room on fire.
