We (two adults, two children) will be arriving by train in KL and staying there about 8 hours before departing on a night train for Singapore. Obviously we don't want to carry our bags with us in the city, so I would like to check them somewhere. I haven't been able to find out if the RR station has a left luggage service. If anyone knows for sure I would appreciate hearing from them. Another alternative I suppose would be to book a room for the day at a hotel. If anyone has any recommendations for a not too expensive hotel not far from the RR station I would appreciate hearing about that as well. Won't be sleeping there overnight, so doesn't have to be deluxe. Thanks in advance for anyone you can help out.

Not sure what you mean by RR station,

The night train to Singapore leaves from KL Sentral which is the main transport hub of KL. There are 2 left luggage offices, the one opposite the ticket booths is the easiest to use but bear in mind they do close at 9pm and your train doesn't leave till 11pm, not sure what time the other one closes, it's just near the Air Asia office.

Yes, the Tunes hotel is great, I have stayed there many times however it is 5 mins, walk from a station but not the central station.

Just for your (and everyone else's) information: The Air Asia office has moved and is now on the upper floor, same level as the Train Ticket booths and that above-mentioned left-luggage-counter.

It now has 12 counters and waiting times have fallen from 3-5 hrs to around 30 minutes

If you need a room with no frills etc try this:

http://www.tunehotel...els/downtown-kl

5 minuteswalk from Train etc according to website

Hope this helps , enjoy your trip :)

Just keep in mind that those "rooms with no frills" may easily cost the price of a decent 3-star hotel !!!

the downtown KL Tunehotel is almost always fully booked and - unless booked long in advance - VERY VERY EXPENSIVE - up to 120/130 RM

Plus: If the OP arrives at KL SENTRAL, why would he want to have a 20+ minutes journey on the overcrowded Monorail to the MEDAN TUANKU - STOP (where Tunehotel is located) only to store his bags......
