markt
My wife has about 10 Thai friends who live within a half mile from us in worthing, but they are plumper than Thais in Thailand, they often come around for a thai food get together, came dowstairs the other day, they were all sitting on the kitchen floor on a picnic blanket eating their food, maybe they are not westernised yet and do not know about dining room tables. Yeah, my wife does that too, she also sits on the sofa drinking cans of bitter and eating crisps.

jennifer.s
soooo true before leaving uk last month for a 12mnth stay in phuket. of my boyfriends group of friends 5 are now married to thai girls an at least 3 have thai girlfriends , all this in a quiet village in wales . what must they think is going on lol Since returning to live in the UK with my wife 3 yrs ago, there seems to have been a huge influx of Thai girls. Could be just more aware of their presence? But to my mind seems like in the last couple of years there has been a definate increase. Once upon a time when wifey had a chance meeting with another Thai in the supermarket it would cause quite a stir, but now no such reaction. They're everywhere! Any UK members agree? Richard W
18 in my area (that I know of) all working in bakeries and restaurants <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Either you've forgotten the hairdresser (Church Road) or you know a different group to me. Do she and her daughters count as one or three? I first visited in 1984 I was a rare sight No managed to stop my self ITS TO EASY But trying to find Thai's aroud Boston Area.... IMPOSSIBLE <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd guess they make up about 0.1% of the population, and are very evenly spread. However, when it comes to work, they may cluster - one gets a job and recruits the others. Hotels and supermarkets are the obvious places - there are at least 6 at one of our local supermarkets. UK, you want to see the number in Norway. All of them ex 7/11 or cashiers that never went with anyone. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, I think it's better that they regard having been on the game as shameful. wolf5370
I had a Thai Restaurant in the UK (South London) 10 years ago - with a Thai chef (overstayer student) a Thai Business partner, his Thai wife and some Philipino waitresses. Thai's were few and far between then. Only ones I knew outside of those I said above, were students - lots of them, even then. When my wife came over 8 years ago, she met another Thai at college (she had automatic enrolment on a council run, free, English course). There was a small circle of Thai Girls. Now we know dozens and are aware of many many more. Within the first 3 years, two Thais moved in to the road we lived in - separately - to be with Englisg Hubbies! Just have to go to Wimbledon Wat on Loy Kratong to see how many there are local to London. Amazing.

Let me rephrase that then, It's probably relatively much easier for a Thai lady to get a English visa as per in relation to getting an American one...... Anyway, the day that Thai girls take over the UK, is the day I move to Great Britain!

Honestly, Narachon, it is not easy AT ALL, to get a visa for the UK. You have to provide almost 5 inches thick of documentation to substantiate your application. Thongkorn
They are not interested in other men because probably they are happily married, There are lots of Thai women in my area, There are some ones That do not speak to there own country men/ women , Also there is a lot of Jealousy between them, I do not know why ,
bonobo
Personally, i hope it is the case, as it should make it easier for my wifey to settle next month. It's not just the actual people but the fact that they create demand for food etc. I bet 3 years ago you struggled to get any Thai food, whereas now (in Manchester at least) it is easily obtained. And that is a great consequence of immigration. In my US home of San Diego, it is now quite easy to find Brazilian, Vietnamese, Filipino, Somali, Guatemalan, Thai, street-type Japanese, Chinese Muslim, Persian, Ethiopian, etc., food, and I, for one, and pretty happy about that.
