Lorin
I plan to spend a month in Pattaya and knowing the constant problems with internet connection there, my thought was to use 3G service with my Xperia x10 phone. Any experiences on that matter? Thank you in advance for sharing.

Jiu-Jitsu
There is. Perhaps if you don't know, it is better to say so. 3G Pattaya
Digitalbanana
According to Sony's web site the Xperia x10 specs is: GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 UMTS/HSPA 900/1700/2100 UMTS/HSPA 800/850/1900/2100 so you should be able to run True 3G there on one of their trial plans. Government hasn't sanctioned any 3G officially.

Lorin
Where do you want to stay in Pattaya? Around Pratamnak, or Jomtien.
Cloggie
Never heard any horror stories of that area. Why don't you contact first the guesthouse / hotel if they have (free) internet available?
oakweb
I've never tested the 3G here, but I hear it's by Beach Road only. Edge is nothing you will want to use on any regular basis, just a emergency backup. Best bet is to make sure you have high speed at the hotel you are at.
