This is where it gets interesting (or not).

I am on a 4mb package because 2 years ago when i subscribed i was told that anything faster was not possible in my area due to the phonelines.

Since then, i have received almost annual upgrades to around 7 mb. these free upgrades actually appear on my bill as "free upgrade 1mb", and that line item is there twice.

As of three days ago or so, i noticed i am downloading at 10mb. A check on my router status confirms the upgrade.

has anyone else out there, especially in the suk 11 area noticed a bump in bandwith? odd. you would think that they would publicize such a radical service improvement. i am getting over twice the speed i pay for.

And my internet is FAR more robust in terms of international traffic than many of my friends on much higher speed packages. im not complaining, but i really dont get it.

They probably don't advertise these upgrades "which may be confined to certain areas" just to keep all their other customers in other areas which are still stuck at a lower speeds from calling up and demanding/expecting a free upgrade.

And sometimes when the new higher speed packages are the same price as the older lower speed packages, then the company does the upgrade automatically. This happened to me with TOT. I signed up for their 4Mb package (fastest available to my moobaan at the time) at 590B/mo about 9 months ago...then about 3 months ago they came out with a new 6Mb package at 590B/mo that you see advertised on TV a lot...when I started bugging them about a free upgrade I was told 4Mb was still the fastest to my moobaan (which I confirmed a couple of times with TOT techs working in the moobaan) and TOT wouldn't lower my price as I was still under the 12 month contract.. Then one day about 6 weeks ago I noticed my internet browsing was noticeably faster and I checked my modem sync speed which was now saying 6Mb--I had been automatically upgraded with no heads-up from TOT. Talking to a TOT tech who came to fix the neighbor's noisy phone line just a few days after noticing the speed increase, he said TOT had just upgraded the DSLAMs feeding my moobaan to 6Mb (the new max speed to the moobaan)...my monthly bill is still 590B which is the current 6Mb price.

I got upgraded from 1 to 3 to 6 MBs over the last 12 months all for free (on th 599 package)

On their website, the minimum that they offer now is 6 MBs.

It seems that if you are on a particular package, they will upgrade you as they upgrade their package. In both cases, I got an SMS saying it was being upgraded. It also happened at my office, which got an upgrade to 16MB with no additional cost.

Isn't it just great to see some positive posts for once . . . .! It seems that the majority of posts here on Thai Visa are negative, its good to hear the good along with the bad!! Regards IW

I think if you call into a TRUE service center & pick up a High Speed brochure you will see you are paying for the speed you have.

It is not correct to say you are getting twice what you pay for. From time to time TRUE up the speed & lower the prices.

Personally I would step down to 6MB & pocket the savings.

But that's just me.

Good Luck.

I had the VIP package which meant 1MB uploads. It was quick & Costly.

I would happily pay for 1 mbps uploads, but true say it is not possible.

I am currently paying for 6m/512 service and recieving 10mbps/ 512 (actually 10/693 according to my router. So i think it is correct to claim that i am most certainly getting more than I pay for.

As for pocketing the difference, I would rather have the speed -- short of paying 3000 +++ per month or more for a superfast connection. As it is my rate is already almost 500 baht cheaper than the published rates for 10mb service (albeit 10/1 rahter than 10/512)

When i chose a package years ago it was the most i could get for what i am willing to spend. I am now spending less, and my speed has nearly trebled.

Beyond a blip in torrent traffic earlier this year TRUE internet has been very good to me. i remember being on loxinfo dialup 10 years ago and that was maddening indeed.

it sounds to me like others service is improving as well.
