Uk Retired Nationals In Thailand

Recommended Posts

http://ukinthailand....s/job-vacant-cy

The main purpose of the job is to complete a research project to: identify the main concerns and needs of retired British Nationals resident in Thailand, secondly to identify the services provided by the Thai Authorities and international and local NGOs. Compile a list of recommendations on how to address the needs of the retired British population.

But with a massive budget of 84,000 Baht for three months' work, maybe they don't care too much. mad.gif

Anyway, there really is no need all that money, as all they have to do is

1. Sift through Thai Visa, just about every single topic has already been discussed to death.

2. To catch any other issues, simply start another thread.

"UK Retired Nations"

"How Can We Help?"

And just wait for the deluge....

Maybe we can even start now?

"A vacancy will occur in early January 2010 for a 3-month fixed term research officer position in Consular Section."

That just about sums them up ! useless! , unless they want to take money off you, they do that very well.

Paper shufflers third class every one ,completely bloody useless.

Perhaps they are trying to change, give the Embassy some credit, overall they do a pretty good job often in difficult circumstances.

When do they do a great job? The Tsunami? ,when the airport was taken over? when the red shirts took over BKK ? where were they then ?

The British Embassy interests are aiming at what objectives and to be looking after who's interests ? Each time it can be simple they chose to complicate it all.

The World is still a patchwork of administrative rules none synchronized with common sense making annihilation between each other unable to assist properly...

A French passport holder, UK resident for years now visiting only London as favouring Thailand most of the year for family reasons, which embassy to rely on and what to expect from any one other than all kind of problems.

SOLUTIONS please URGENTLY REQUESTED.

I'm an ex Foreign Office type and have worked in British embassies around the world and I can assure everyone that the number one aim is to snurgle up to the host government. Consular work, ie helping our expats abroad is way down the embassy's list of priorities and if there's a danger of upsetting the hosts by supporting you, they'll hang you out to dry. The days of sending a gunboat if a Brit is in difficulty are long gone. You're just a pain in the butt to the embassy staff who are all jostling like mad to further their careers and they'd much prefer you to stay at home where you won't be a distraction for them. Confession over.

No they do not.... not for UK anyways..

It's the resposibility of the police to inform the the appropriate consular representative if a foreign national dies in Thailand.

Not sure why you say not the UK, they have a dedicated consular official who is resonsible for such matters.
