Firefox Playing Up Again

Featured Replies

I know I can go to Tools/Options/General Downloads

and specify a folder for all downloads or let FF ask me each time.

The problem is that neither option works now............

Everything goes in the tmp folder.

NOT what I want. :bah:

Any ideas??????

FF 3.6.13

Thanks

PS I am downloading .torrent files, and want them all in one place.

3.6.13 works fine for me, can specify where the torrents go.

Is it the torrent or the completed torrent, if the completed torrent check your settings in your torrent software.

Any ideas? Yeah update to the latest version.

3.6.13 is the latest version!!!

Not sure what to say, sounds like operator error. I suspect you have not created the new folder you want to use, and/or have not properly configured FF to direct downloads to this new folder. I guess you are downloading .torrent files, these are small files ~ 25 KB which will then get loaded into your BT client, not the subsequent .AVI or whatever it is you are trying to DL.

One issue is that FF and/or your system realizes this is a .torrent file and then immediately loads it into your BT client, with/without your permission. You should be able to change this in Windows.

I can successfully download .torrent files to a directory I made using FF 3.6.12. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

I switched to Chrome v8.xxx and am happy with it.

Try it.

If no download folder exists, FF reverts to %USERPROFILE%\Desktop or the Documents folder as the default save location.

Not necessarily. All my browser downloads (including .torrent files) are saved to a folder I specify. The only exception are PDF documents which open automatically in the browser window unless I choose "Save link as..." right click context menu.

File types and download actions

Thanks for all the suggestions

I ended up taking dire action.

I backed up all my settings with Mozbackup.

Deleted FF completely.

Reinstalled and restored my settings, all except the General ones.

Now the downloads are working, to the folder I specified, yes it does exist, has done for months............

I keep all my .torrent files in a dedicated folder, as I upload some to my seedbox

to improve my ratios

I am now on an old version 3.6.3 which I had on disk.

It will be interesting to see if the problem reoccurs when it updates to the latest

I spoke to soon.

It downloaded to the specified folder the first time,

BUT the second it went to TMP again............ :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:

Hi,

I use the new Firefox beta I downloaded (4.0 B7. No problem, but the page has been changed or enhanced a little, but almost the same as previous versions.

I spoke to soon.

It downloaded to the specified folder the first time,

BUT the second it went to TMP again............ :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:

Maybe something to do with folder permissions?

BTW, check out this Firefox Add-on.

I have killed most of my addons and all is well now.

Gave up on Firefox and moved to Chrome. Far better

I also think so.

Problem seems to have resolved itself.

Thanks
