anyway what has to be done at the mitsu service center during the 10,000km for the PJS?

so besides the normal oil change and stuff, what else?

i recalled MRO told me to get:

1. air-con filter

2. EGR plug

3. K&N filter

so, i will just tell the mitsu service center to get these done or i must try to buy filters + plug myself?

is it ok to buy my own engine oil and ask them to change for me?

i recalled the mitsu service center used Castrol for me during my 1,000km engine oil change. so is it better to get Shell or others?

i was thinking to get the:

1. Shell Helix Diesel Ultra

2. Shell Helix Diesel Hx 5

3. Shell Helix Diesel HX7

Firstly, you DO NOT want to mention anything about an EGR block to Mitsu - that's the kind of thing you keep hush-hush like a Racechip or a dump-pipe (both of which I have a local soi mechanic remove before servicing and refit after) ;)

I doubt the Mistu garage will be able to supply a K&N Filter - that's something you'd need to source yourself. They will be able to supply and fit the A/C filter though.

As for oil, if you can justify the expense and/or drive your PJS hard, use a synthetic. I have used Shell Helix Ultra since the 1,000KM check-up, and changed again at 5,000, 10,000, 20,000 and every 10,000 onwards. However, Mistu state you only need to change the oil every 40,000KM using their standard mineral oil, so I'm arguably just going OTT ;)

My preference for Shell oil is solely because I only use Shell V-Power diesel and my reasoning is that Shell's best oil ought to be a good match for their best fuel. There's plenty of other (cheaper) brands of synthetic out there though - e.g. PTT, Duckhams, Valvoline, Castrol etc - even Mobil 1 can be bought cheaper than the Helix Ultra. Whetever you choose, make sure it's a diesel oil (not the same as petrol vehicle oils)

Note that for a 2WD you'll need 7 Litres (so two bottles: 6L + 1L) and for 4WD you'll need 8L. And yes, it's totally OK to supply your own oil, but always change the oil filter when changing oil, and always use the genuine oil filter as supplied by Mitsu (~220B)

Thanks MRO!

so where can i get a better filter? i m not a paypal guy, i found the K & N website but i wanted to get something with CA$H. the more traditional way will do for me. was thinking to source that in klong thom, so MRO do u have a reliable source? anyway after getting a air filter, can i get the mitsu guys to fit it for me? i do not want to get the warranty void though.

i read thru the : http://www.carbibles...eoil_bible.html

and i think it is so much better to use the Shell Helix Ultra.

just contacted :

Kuang Thai Motor Group Company Limited

tel: 02 539 4747 ‎

they told it that it is ok to bring my own engine oil, but as for the filters, they will supply it. but they do not carry K&N, so i have to go in to see what kinda air filters they are carrying.

For the K&N, try Khun Oan from Absolute Premium Parts at: autopart_online [at] hotmail.com - You can pay by bank/ATM transfer and she delivers by EMS (1-2 days). Price for the filter only was 2,160 Baht, with cleaning & oiling kit 2,560 Baht. (Speaks English well)

Shouldn't be any bother for the Mitsu techs to fit it - it's only 4 spring clips :)
