Hello, for those of you that live in Thailand I just wanted some advice about makeup. In England I usually wear liquid foundation and powdered foundation, but in this heat makeup just melts off your face.

So what do you ladies wear instead? I've heard tinted moisturizer is supposed to be ideal in hot climates but I don't really rate it. I find it hard not to wear any foundation but it is near impossible to wear it over here. I know I have young skin and I shouldn't really be wearing makeup but I've worn it since I was 13 and I'm pretty used to it now. And it's not like I look like a clown, I know how to wear it suitably unlike some older people I know and I also look after my skin.

Oh. And I wondered what the best colours were for a fair skinned brunette.

Suggestions?

To be honest, not giving you the answer you want to hear, I know, but I never wear makeup. If I am getting dressed up I wear some mascara and eyeshadow but that is it. foundation and/or powder only clogs the pores and causes pimples or runs right off. It tends to look fake in the bright sunlight. Your best bet really is simple moisturizing sunblock. You will find that your complexion will even out eventually and you won't need makeup.

Ice:

I have to agree with SBK. I experimented with foundation and powders when I was about 17, and promptly went off most makeup by the time I was 19. When I was younger, I prefered to either sleep longer or have sex in the morning rather than apply makeup; now I just sleep longer :o

I wear lipstick or gloss daily, and haven't applied mascara in at least several years. Once in a great while I'll wear a little eyeshadow or blush. I prefer to pamper myself with skincare products. I find that if I treat my skin and body well, I don't need makeup. However, lately I am thinking that glamourous makeup would be nice every once-in-a-while, but this would be more in the spirit of fun rather than necessity.

For the day I would suggest a light SPF concealer for under they eyes & to cover blemishes with translucent powder to blot out any shiny nose, a brown mascara to get away from piggy eyes & a brush of bronzer. Soem people don't have an even skin tone (I don't) & even a little powder can make a huge difference in evening it out.

I always liked a more sturdy foundation, like Revlon colourstay as you only need a bit to even out your skin & it lasts all night, even in Thailand, a small brush of translucent powder to set it & vamp up with mascara & lippy. I wouldn't suggest heavy makeup everynight but for a night out there is nothing like putting the face on to give you a boost. :o

I am with Boo when it comes to make up issue. In Thailand, especially Bkk, your skin can get clogged by the dust and dirt within hours. Not protecting the skin from the pollution and the sun can be damaging later on. At bed time, a regiment of cleaning and moisterizing should rule.

Many women I know really like Mac or Shiseido when it comes to make up and skin care. Being old fashioned, I use Estee Lauder products - no facial break outs even on the hottest days. I haven't used soap on my face in years, though I do scrub it occasionally with the Olay's Total facial sheets, and Estee Soft Clean Toner is great - no alcohol....

Princess Nat always laughs at me when I say that my make up is what kept my fair skin protected in LOS but with inbuit SPF20 & no greasy residue like sun creams it sure did work & even though I am 30 (& lived for so many years in the blazing samui sunshine) I still don't have lines or crows feet around the eyes. Oh I nearly forgot, sunglasses, never ever leave home without them Ice Maiden, even if your just running to the shops, you are never too young to start a skin care routine & you'll thank yourself for it later in life :o

Agree.

I have very sensitive skin, being in a polluted or hot environment when I have foundation on will definitely cause me acne problem. Recently I found a good way - applying high SPF mosturizer then followed by loose powder. The coloured looser powder makes my skin looks smooth and evens out the uneven tone, and it's less harmful compare to foundation to my skin.

oh, you are so right. You know you should not wear any, esp in the daytime.

I dont, it is not necessary. You got used to it, so feel naked going out without it OK

so try to use less, or try none, get used to that, it is much better for your skin

I bet you would look just as nice, or nicer without :o:D

Hey Ice, that's great!

I hope it is also not unwelcome for me to post here.  I just ran across this thread when doing a search in TV on ayur.

In addition to turmeric, one other miraculous and simple substance for the skin is ghee (clarified butter).  It is very cleansing and healing and gives the skin a very healthy glow.  A quick search on skin, ghee, health will yield up lots of interesting info.

When I was married, my wife had a mole on her face that went quickly from the size of a small pea to the size of a quarter.  It was rough and multicolored and a doctor friend told her she should have a biopsy as it might likely be cancerous.

Then another friend told us that he had had a nasty mole and an ayurvedic doctor told him to gently apply a small amount of ghee at least 3 times a day.  He said in 3 weeks the mole was gone without a trace.  Despite being strong believers in ayurveda we were skeptical, to say the least, that simple ghee would do this.  However my wife decided to give it a try as it would be a while before she could get an appointment for the biopsy.

We watched in amazement over the next three weeks as the mole shrank and finally disappeared with no sign that it had ever been there.  No scar, nothing.  And she had had the original mole for more than a decade.  To make a long story short, 6 months later I thought why not try it on a cyst I had had on my eyelid for years.  Also, gone within 3 weeks.  And finally a friend with a large, marble sized cyst on his back.  Also gone in weeks!

Ghee helps get rid of all kinds of complexion problems and wrinkling (more effective than botox, very easy, inexpensive and only positive results)and helps bring out facial beauty better than cosmetics IMHO.  Including both ghee and turmeric in your diet as well is also very good for the skin.

Of course there is more to maintaing youthful beauty and great looks than just ghee and turmeric and I know I have oversimplified it here.  Healthy eating habits and lifestyle and things like meditation all contribute wonderfully and easily to ones natural beauty.  Do a search, check it out and enjoy the results.

Sorry if I went on a bit here.  :o

Great advice thankyou :D

Of course you're welcome on this forum as long as you behave yourself (Boo's words :D ) This ghee sounds amazing. I have a few freckles that appear when I am over exposed to the sun on my cheeks so I may just try that. You have been very helpful thankyou and I hope I see you contribute more often in the ladies forum.

By the way I like you're avatar, it's very pretty.
