Can anyone recommend a low-key, reasonably priced Japanese restaurant in the Silom Road area?

why not go to Fuji, just around the corner opposite Lumpini Park... and you sure will not be the only Farang there...

Cheap, low-key and astonishing quality is 'Taketei' restaurant on the corner of soi 10 Silom.

But precisely because it is so good and cheap the customers must be overwhelmningly Japanese. How could it be otherwise? I don't understand your fear; are you expecting the Japanese to slice you open with a samurai sword?

My position is the exact opposite of you: I only eat Japanese food where there are no whiteys.

They also have a branch near Khao San Road.
