Thaksin Unlikely To Back Mingkwan

Recommended Posts

Interesting article in the other paper which indicates that Thaksin is only reciprocating on Mingkwan by acknowledging Mingkwan's own financial contributions to the Pheu Thai Party.

It's also apparently a set up for failure as he has assigned Mingkwan to lead the censure debate and he has zero prior experience with that.

With this expected task failure, Thaksin will then shift his support to a new Party Leader, the one he has apparently wanted all along...

his younger sister, Yingluk Shinawatra;

who the sources said is expected to become Party Leader before the next general election.

It's sad watching the PTP death spiral.

Right. Everything they do and say is fraught with ridiculousness. They should have collectively drank rat poison months ago - or at least gone off to do jobs they were qualified for, like raking leaves out of gutters.

Or his stand-in and the future Party Leader of the Pheu Thai Party (PM candidate, as well?, but perhaps that will nod will go to brother, Payup)

CAPTIONS PLEASE !!! What is Quinton thinking here?

'Didn't I buy some KFC fried-chicken, from you, a few years ago ?'

:cheesy:

It's agreeably easy to mix up this large cast of clowns and their ridiculous shenanigans, but that was daughter, Paethongthan, and not sister, Yingluck.

Also, it was McDonalds and not KFC.

Many thanks for the correction, useful McNugget of information..

Was this the sister, who turned up at the PTP-meeting expecting to become the new party-leader, but failed to be nominated & stormed off in-a-huff, with the news-cameras still rolling ? :whistling: PTP-leadership contests have been problematic for some time. B)

That's the one.

She was sabotaged by her own family members when cousin, former Supreme Commander General Chaisit Shinawatra, and sister, banned former MP and former First Lady Yaowapa Wongsawat nee Shinawatra, both thought she was unsuitable to be Party Leader for PTP.

Sabotaged? Unsuitable? With family like this who needs enemies.

The truth may hurt, but sets you free :)

It sounds like a horrid soap opera on Thai Television. I hope they end up shooting each other.

Ha, yeah... that's what I thought. I heard Thaksin is set on Yingluck and has been for months, so I was surprised he gave him backing for censure debate, but then I had second thoughts... of course if Mingkwan does well, it'll be difficult for Thaksin. Last thing he wants is Mingkwan as leader imo.

Why not Jatuporn?

Sure, it would marginalize the party further, so by all means, get him at the helm for a bit.

The other paper has an article today about how the former tyrannical PM's sister, Yingluck Shinawatra, is conflicted over accepting the Party Leader position for Pheu Thai Party, despite having many PTP MP's supporting her bid.

While she remains undecided, Mingkwan is busily seeing just what the number is of PTP MP's that support his nomination and apparently what he is finding out is that the still valid formula of PTP=Red Shirts= Thaksin is working against him in that numerous PTP MP's prefer Yingluck to him as a more concrete link to continued financial funding for the Party. They also support her for the novelty of her becoming Thailand's first female Prime Minister.

If she is presented as a seductress then she would have a very good chance to become Prime Minister.

But I would still prefer to see Jatuporn lead Pheu Thai.

I'm afraid that slimy, slitty-eyed bottom-feeder is no longer relevant.......and the octopus isn't doing too well either!

A-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Ahem. I thank you.

By Praphan Chindalert-udomdee

The Nation

Pheu Thai MPs say that Mingkwan Sangsuwan needs to prove his leadership abilities during the censure debate before he can represent the party as a prime minister's candidate.

Samut Prakarn MP Pracha Prasopdee said the censure debate would be a perfect opportunity for Mingkwan to show his political vision and ability.

and now the Party agrees to test Mingkwan...

Pheu Thai decides to have Mingkwan lead censure showdown

The Pheu Thai Party Tuesday resolved to have party-list MP Mingkwan Saengsuwan lead the censure showdown against the government.

Chalerm Yoobamrung, the chairman of Pheu Thai MPs, said the party decided to name Mingkwan's name as the prime minister candidate in the censure motion to be lodged against the government.

The party voted unanimously to have Mingkwan head the no-confidence debate team, Chalerm said.

Mingkwan would have a free hand to select his team members and to decide how the debate would be held.

Thaksin agrees to have Mingkwan nominated as PM candidate: Pracha

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra greed to have Pheu Thai party-list MP Mingkwan Saensuwan as the party's PM nominee when the party submits a no-confidence motion next year, an MP said Monday.

Pracha Prasopdee said Thaksin would not object to Mingkwan's nomination as Mingkwan is qualified for the post of the prime minister.

The Pheu Thai plans to file a censure motion next year.

Pracha said Pheu Thai MPs would not object to Mingkwan's nomination.

As required by law in regards to the censure motion, the Pheu Thai Party MP's yesterday also agreed to nominate Mingkwan to be their Prime Minister candidate.

So as Pracha and Thaksin agreed above, so have the Party as a whole.

Censure Debate Leader and Alternative Prime Minister-designate Mingkwan outlined the Pheu Thai Party censure strategy in that Prime Minister Abhisit will be the primary target in the upcoming censure debate according to a report in the other paper.

He said there will about 20 MP's that will speak and the focus will be economics. He has invited Chalerm to be one of the speakers and has yet to hear a reply, although Chalerm said earlier he would not participate in the debate because Mingkwan was chosen to lead it.

Maybe he will ask the PM to prove to the parliament on the spot he's NOT an Englishman and if he cannot to step down as PM ;)

As for k. Chalerm he has many days to change his mind a few times again :)

surprised it was a unanimous decision...

Pheu Thai Party selects Mingkwan to lead debate team

BANGKOK, 2 February 2011 (NNT) – The opposition Pheu Thai Party has unanimously resolved to choose former Deputy Prime Minister Mingkwan Saengsuwan to lead the opposition in grilling the government and has also nominated him as next prime minister.

Speaking at the Pheu Thai Party Headquarters, Pheu Thai Party MPs Chairperson Police Captain Chalerm Yubumrung announced the resolution of the party to select Mr Mingkwan to lead the team in the upcoming censure debate.

Police Captain Chalerm added that Mr Mingkwan was authorized to select the date, period and pattern of the debate, as well as opposition debaters, by himself. He said the Party would announce more strategies later on.

Meanwhile, Mr Mingkwan stated that he would convene related people at Parliament at 3 pm on Wednesday in order to form the debate team as well as discuss points of censure and other conditions.

The former deputy prime minister noted that he would inform the progress to the media on a constant basis, adding that he would still invite Police Captain Chalerm to join the debate team.

That would be interesting. Just for the lot of us to find out who else is NOT born in this country but claims the same. Many UN mentionables aren't born in this country. But..........

Off the topic a bit but it pretty much sums this lot up. I was in a shop looking to buy a bicycle for my son. Got talking to the guy and he told me that he was Malaysian, Ok i thought and said that i'd never met many Malaysians in Thailand and he said no that he was Chinese. And you were born in Malaysia? Yes. So you are Malaysian? No Chinese. Do you have a Thai passport? Yes. So you are Thai? No I'm Chinese. Have you ever been to China? No. Will you ever go there? No, more money to be made in Thailand.

How do you work out that mind set?
