'Forbidden Planet' actress Anne Francis dies at age 80

LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) -- Actress Anne Francis on Monday passed away at the age of 80 due to complications of pancreatic cancer, local media reported.

Francis, of Ossining, New York, passed away at a retirement home in Santa Barbra, California, where she had resided for several years, the actress' daughter told the Los Angeles Times.

Francis, who appeared in over 30 movies throughout her career, is probably best remembered for acting in the 1956 classic science fiction film 'Forbidden Planet.' She was also a Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee for her role as a female detective in the 60's TV series 'Honey West.'

In 2007, Francis was diagnosed with lung cancer and had been fighting off the disease ever since.
