bonobo Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I made creme brulee on Sunday, but I had to melt the sugar using the oven broiler, which re-heated the entire brulee again. I had gone to HomePro to buy a torch, but they only had cutting torches, no soldering torches. Anyone know where I can get one? I am going to try a low-fat brulee this coming weekend, and they are more temperamental, so I would like not to have to put them back in the oven to melt the sugar.
bkkjames Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Just go around the corner to your nearest Petrol Station Bonobo and ask the guys to get out their torch.
sbk Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 verasu.com has them I believe, they have a store on wireless road up from the US Embassy. They may be pricey but dang they have everything et voila http://verasu.com/product_detail.php?pid=16 (out of stock online but go to the store or call- they are on wireless) Additionally you might try Siam Paragon downstairs

I guess I get stuck on US thinking where I can get one at any WalMart or Home Depot, so of course I went to HomePro.
huskymowers Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Maybe a bunsen burner would do the trick. If suitable they can be found at any medical instrument retailer.
bino Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I saw them in the market area that is behind Tawanna II. If you walk from the parking garage at The Mall BangKapi through the market as if you are going to Tawanna, you will see the guy who is selling all kinds of cigarette lighters, bongs, hookahs, etc. He had what you are looking for.
