Over 36,000 Million Baht Has Been Spent

Over 36,000 million baht has been spent on tsunami assistance in southern Thailand.

The Thai cabinet meeting on Tuesday acknowledged the Finance Ministry’s assistance packages in support of the businesses and people in the six southern provinces that got hit by the tsunami. The cabinet was informed that 6,059.11 million baht was lent by finance institutes to 9,832 businesses while 37,125.5 million baht has been approved as loans by commercial banks to 1,833 businesses. Meanwhile the Bank of Thailand has approved a loan of 48,226.05 million baht to finance institutes to provide loans to 2,366 clients. In general the loan assistance packages have reached 7,299 business operators, totaling 36,050.40 million baht or 83.48% of the loans approved. On the other scheme, 21 tsunami Small Medium Enterprises have been approved joint ventures, accounting for 421.20 million baht while the tsunami recovery fund has been approved at 2,290 million baht for 17 S.M.E.s.
