How many ways are there to get this concept across?

I know the saying - "wan dto wan"

and อย่าตีตนไปก่อนไข้ meaning "Don't beat yourself before the fever comes."

There is also don't count your chickens - ไป่เห๊นน้ำเร่งตัดกระบอก

cutting the bamboo before the water is seen.

Any other ideas?

if yes, it means day by day

= u are just easy to do something, u make it at ease, collect it day by day until the deadline etc.,

but if it's 'one day at a time'

i think it's other meaning.......

u rushly finish within one day?

ไม่เห็นน้ำตัดกระบอก ไม่เห็นกระรอกก่งหน้าไม้ = rush to do somthing ,even its not the right nor appropriate time

example ..you are really concern that you wont pass the exam ,you cant eat,can sleep..you are in trouble time coz you worry too much even the examination result doesnt present yet

May I venture, "don't cross that bridge until you come to it".

"One day at a time" does not imply haste but, rather, a lack of urgency, as Siamesekitty has highlighted; e.g. a person who suffers from terminal cancer may be said to take one day at a time.
