August 30, 200520 yr I have been teaching in the UK now for three years. I have a degree in Chemistry and also a teaching qualification called a (Postgraduate certificate in Education) PGCE. I have qualified teacher status (QTS) and am a associate member of the royal society of Chemistry. I want to teach in a different culture and not the ungrateful children who grace my classroom now and then. What is next? I don't have a TEFL qualification but I could teach English. I would prefer however to teach my subject. I currently teach up to A level (up to 18years which is equivalent to 1st year undergrad in USA) Many thanks for your help Damian

There are plenty here with out a Degree who are ready to work for lower salaries to just spend life here. You will become one of them. UK already facing lack of qualified teachers in the schools. You can see one of the 7/7 bomber came to UK as a teacher. It is better to serve for your country's future if you have a good job and income there. Please dont come here just for a change. You can always have vaccations for months here. If you are really serious about comming here better to apply to International schools and come with proper visa and respected salary (above US$1500 a month). Still please don't try to teach English, Chemistry/Science better. Becuase many schools do not have specialized teachers for science.
September 2, 200520 yr Good advice, NSB. And the real international schools pay substantially more than $1500 per month.
September 2, 200520 yr I agree, go to a recruiting fair in the UK and get a good job in an international school. I would imagine that you wouldn't have too many problems with your qualifications.
