Re-Entry Permit Question

Featured Replies

I have just done my one year retirement extension in Phuket.

I shall be moving up to Khorat next month.

Whilst I have no definite plans to leave the country in the foreseeable future, I would like the option.

I have read that you can only get a re-entry permit in the office where the extension was issued.

Is this strictly enforced?

Does anybody have any experience of this?

Is it really not possible to get a re-entry permit in another Immigration office, if and when I need it?

In my “home” province, for example.

I should add that if I do leave Thailand in the next year it will be overland to Laos or Cambodia and not via an airport.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Normally only at the office where you do your extensions. Although there have been some reports that some immigration offices will be helpful, it is not something you can count on.

It might be wise to always get a re-entry permit when doing an extension of stay. You never know when you might need it.

After you are officially living in Khorat, the Khorat immigration office will handle your needs. After you do your first 90 day address reporting in Khorat, the local immigration office will have you in their records. However, It would be wise to get the re-entry permit before you leave Phuket.

Thanks for these prompt replies

It looks likeit might be as well to get a single re-entry permit before I leave Phuket and then in a few months time, if I need another one, try Khorat Immigration.

If I were intending to leave the country frequently I would get the multiple version and be done with it.

But the last time I had a multiple I only used it once.
