Lots Of Crude Oil Underground In Us Midwest

Featured Replies

The news is a bit dated (21 months old) but it seems not to have hit the newspaper headlines:

here's the link from US Geological Survey

Title of article: 3 to 4.3 Billion Barrels of Technically Recoverable Oil Assessed in North Dakota and Montana’s Bakken Formation—25 Times More Than 1995 Estimate—

first two sentences of article: "Reston, VA - North Dakota and Montana have an estimated 3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels of undiscovered, technically recoverable oil in an area known as the Bakken Formation.

A U.S. Geological Survey assessment, released April 10, shows a 25-fold increase in the amount of oil that can be recovered compared to the agency's 1995 estimate of 151 million barrels of oil."

Lots of stories/reports regarding oil in the world; how's this related to Thailand?

The key phrase is "technically recoverable".....technically you may be able to get the oil out, but at what cost ?

Same can be applied to Gold, technically gold can recovered from "sea water" but it isnt financially viable on an ecomonic scale as yet

This was reported a while ago, complete with why it is now technically feasible. In essence, it is a horizontal drilling technique, vertical down to depth and horizontal into the pools. Amazing what the drillers can do with their "soda straws"
