Hi all

My passport was stolen today. There's a fine start!!

The first thing I did was get a Police Report from my local station. Then I went down to the British embassy and got all relevant forms and info about applying for a new passport and reporting the old one as stolen.

When I get a new/replacement passport, the next step is to head out to C/W and get visa info transferred.

At C/W, I will have:

* my new passport

* a photocopy of the data page of the stolen pp

* a police report

* a letter from the embassy (now free!!)

I should point out that I am here on a 1 year Non Immigrant 'O' (marriage) extension and the original visa expired a few years back.

1. Do I need an Immigration form requesting transfer of extension details?

2. I had a multiple entry re-entry visa in the old pp. Will they give me a new one for free or must I apply for a new one?

3. What about my departure card. I have the old one from the stolen pp. Should I use it or is it void now?

4. Does this affect the 90 days dates?

Any helpful and relevant answers highly appreciated!

Thanks.

1. Yes

2. Immigration will transfer your current extension of stay and re-entry permit. They do not transfer your original visa.

3. Your departure card is still valid. It denotes your last entry date in Thailand, which has not changed.

4. No

1. You need to report the passport stolen and ask for transfer of the details to the new passport.

2. I believe that one is gone. You have to buy a new one.

3. You still use the arrival card (Take it with you to immigration when you go to report, together with police report and letter form embassy)

4. No, that remains the same.

Thank you gentlemen!

When I get my new passport, will it be only valid up to the expiry date of my old/stolen one, or will it be for the full 10 years? The website keeps on referring to it as a 'replacement passport'.

Quote:

' You can also apply for a replacement passport at the same time as reporting your British passport lost or stolen. You can apply for a replacement passport as long as you are the holder. You should see the 'Replacing your lost, stolen or damaged passport' page.'

Thanks again.

A replacement if from Hong Kong will be full passport. They can issue emergency type document here immediately for those that must leave but this is not your case.

Just one more thing: is the whole transfer service free (except maybe the Re-entry permit) or is there a fee?

Thanks again.

Never had a missing passport but your departure card, new passport data page and perhaps the police report would be my guess.

Edit: See you do have copy of old passport data page so take that also as it is normally required - the only thing you will not have is the actual visa/arrival stamp.

I lost my PP which is an Australian one. At the embassy i was given the option, a new passport or an Energency passport. I took the emergency one which lasts 7 months, as i will be eligible for the seniors passport by the time it expires. The seniors is half price at aged 75. I am wondering if the Brit "replacement" passport is the same as our emergency one. Does anybody know ?

Apart for the emergency pp fee, there was nothing more for me to pay. Just got a new Non imm O stamp.

I just remembered that my 90 days is due next week. I have my previous 90 days reporting slip and my Departure Card from my stolen passport.

How can I report within the +/- 7 days with no passport? Would a police report help? Could this be done by post?

Thanks again!

Take the police report and what you have in person. They may allow with provision you return with new passport when issued. If not I suspect a 2k hit when your new passport arrives.

Thanks Lop.

Anyone else? Anyone had a 90 day report due when their passport has been nicked? What happened? What did you need? Were you fined B2,000?

Thanks.

Also just had another thought....The embassy will issue me a (now free) letter to be presented to Immigration saying that I have been issued with a new passport.

Does this letter fom the embassy have to be translated into Thai or will it be accepted in English at Chaengwattana?

Thanks.

I have been fortunate never to have lost my passport or have one stolen so I have a lot of sympathy to anyone that happens to.

What I have done is scanned all the relevant pages used so far into my computer along with the departure card, 90 day reports etc and should the worst happen I have a record that I can print out for the various departments that may require it.

Just to keep everyone informed, I was at C/W this morning and got my Non Immigrant extension and multiple entry permit transferred to my new passport.

Everything was free including the new Re-entry permit (multiple entry) transfer. In and out in 2 hours!! Good ole C/W!!

Lesson learned!! NEVER EVER lose you passport!! However, both the people in the British embassy and Chaeng Wattana were helpful and I was treated very well.

If you lose your passport, go to the K2 section. There you'll get a new arrival stamp. Next, go to the L section and get a new extension stamp. Finally, to to C2 section and get your (free!!) re entry permit stamp.
