Hi All

Sadly in the next couple of weeks me and the ( ex ) wife will be getting a divorce, There are no children involved and it is semi-amicable, if there is such a thing. My wife is not making any demands for money that I know of and we have no real assets here in Thailand. We have already split household items and electrical goods bought during our time together and I have provided funds for her new apartment etc.

I have been told that it is a relatively easy process , just going to the local Amphur and signing some documents. My wife has informed me though that they will not do it unless I have a translator in attendance. Anybody know if this is true

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I can't offer any advice on the technical details but I CAN offer some advice on how to survive the breakup with your head in the right place.

1. Carry no animosity forward no matter how much you might feel slighted.

2. Concentrate on the good things you had when you were together, but don't let them jade you for turther relationships.

3. We might not do things wrong, but very often we don't do things right.

4. Leave all blame behind and look towards the future as a free man.

I've been through the wars twice and I'm too old to start again. But, I don't regret one thing with either of my two marriages and wouldn't change a thing if I could do it all over again.

Unless things have changed since my last divorce in Thailand, no translated was required. I would the soon to be ex can translate for you if needed, from your description of the situation.
