Rule of thumb for foreigner looking to purchase property in Thailand: The crumbier the place, the higher the price. Defenders will say something like, "it's where the jobs are." or "there's more sex for sale per sq.meter than other locales." Ok, fair enough, at least they're somewhat honest about their reasons for choosing to pay 6 to 10 times more than those of us who choose to reside in places which have cleaner air, friendlier locals, less gridlock, and fewer girlie shows. Strange species we are. BTW, any news from Pattaya about inventors, athletic achievements, innovative artistic achievements, scientific breakthroughs, environmental campaign, community get-together to pick up litter, someone returning a lost wallet, or a local doing something beneficial for the community for no payment? Didn't think so. Oh almost forgot, there was the kissing contest, where miserable pairs of people agonizingly held their faces together for as long as possible. ....to each his own. And before that, there was the ASEAN meeting which forced attending dignitaries to cower in fear - in their locked rooms - contemplating being hacked to death by an aggressive mob which Pattaya officialdom hadn't a clue how to deal with.
