Legal Thai Marriage For Both Farang

Featured Replies

Is there anybody knows how marrige in Thailand works at the USA??? We got married 2 months ago. Is our marrige legal in the USA without repoting of marrige at the US Embassy??? Need your help . . . Or do we need to report our marriage to the US Embassy to be legalized in the US???

Thanks for you help. . .

If you both went and received authorization to marry from embassy/ consulate and they were registered withe the MFA in Bangkok then you went to the local amphur and registered ( sign names) then you received two certificated in Thai, both have a serial number on them. You are both legally married and excepted by all parties of the UN including the good old USA. You do not have to go to the embassy or consulate.

Your marriage is recognized without any registration. You even can't register it with the embassy as there is no federal register.

What you do might want to do is to get a legalized copy of the marriage certificate, so you have official proof of the marriage. It will make it easier to proof in the cases you might need official proof of marriage.

Have a look at the US embassy website. It will give some more information.
