Trendy/Stylish Month To Month Apartment?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

my friend is moving to bangkok and looking for a nicely furnished month to month apartment.

It should be one of those newer trendy places.

Rent should be payable month to month instead of a long term contract. He is not sure how long he stays exactly, but it will be a long stay for sure.

Preferred Areas: Ratchada, Silom, Sathorn, Thong Lo

Thanks in advance! ;)

It may not be impossible ... but I think what you are asking for actually IS impossible.

20k or under

no lease

TRENDY ....

not likely.

One of those "newer, trendy" places in Ratchada behind Esplanade (Thailand Cultural Centre MRT).

A serviced apartment - 60,000 per month.

I'm with jd on this.

It MIGHT be possible at a place like Baan Saladaeng ... but I wouldn't count on it. I would expect one of their smaller rooms to get down to about 1k a night. The place is too small to be "Trendy" though. Only 9 rooms.

Closest I can think of that fits the description is somewhere like "Somerset", but even on a month by month basis for a one bedroom he'll be looking at 80k a month and up. On the other end of the scale however he might be able to do a deal with somewhere such as the Dynasty on Soi Nana but I imagine that will be around 30k for a room for one month, pleasant enough but trendy it's not!

Hi there,

I know this outside your spec but reading through all the comments sounds as though your friend will have to comprimise a little.. Green Bells is month to month they have swimming pool, no gym, clean and usally near good transportation links.. 15,700 P/M + electric... Look them up on the internet, I used the one OnNut while I was inbetween condo's for a month..Just like a hotel room, cleaned every day, staff really nice and right by the BTS OnNut.. I personally do not like that end of town but it did the job, now I am back down Asoke, Sukhumvit.. Hope this helps your friend.

It seems utterly bizarre to me to want to live in a trendy place while having an English teacher budget.

I wouldn't like to live in a place like the Green Bells apartment @ On Nut. If I recall correctly, when you enter the building, you have the reception right in your face at the right, feels too much like a hotel IMO. + the lady at the reception didn't speak very good English, I had trouble communicating with her.

20,000 would be many English teacher's whole paycheck.

Try Sukhumvit plus condo near the Suk/Rama 4.

Not trendy ( not even sure what that means) but I had a nice 1 bdr/1bth with a kitchenettes for 18 k for a few years. I enjoyed it.

I think your biggest obstacle, aside from the ฿ is going to be the month-to-month part.

Good luck

Despite what others have said there are actually several places your friend can choose from.

1) The best is probably Sitara Place by the Thai Cultural Center, which is fairly close to the MRT station and has tuk tuk service there. They charge about 18K per month. They have a website by that name or you can call Neil at 087-704-8950. If you look at the website, they have a Youtube video of the facilities.

2) The SM Grande on Sukhumvit 4 (half a block before the IBIS hotel) is very nice and costs 20K baht per month but you need to reserve in advance. If available, you can pay a 3000 baht reservation fee. SM Grande 02-696-9000. Several friends have stayed there. The rooms are quite attractive.

3)There is a condo complex in Silom Soi 3 or 4 called the Oasis, in the soi just before Bangkok Bank. They rent studios in that price range. They have nice recreational facilities including a very large pool which is at least 25 M long. You can either google them or try this number 02-636-6323. My friend just stayed there this past month and paid 18K baht plus utilities (electricity, water, internet and cable all separately billed.)

4) There is also a serviced apartment near Victory Monument in Soi Rangnam called Starry Place which has a web site by the same name. Their number is 02-246-4477. They have one bedrooms in that price range and is a 10 minute walk from the BTS station.

None of these places are perfect but they are all quite nice and compare well to most mid-range hotel rooms that would rent for much more. Of course, if your friend is really looking for trendy, he should consider staying in an upscale hotel like the Peninsula. In the future, this type of post should go into the Accommodations part of the Forum.
