Hi ,

I currently am in China and want to go to Thailand next week, but i am not too sure if I actually can go withouth getting a new passport. I only have one completely empty page left in my passport wich should be enough to get the visa on arrival at the aiport I think. Theoretically speaking I have enough space as I also have another page where they could place a stamp if needed. That page already has two stamps from China and HKG immigration. Other than that my passport is completly full. Anybody know if I can just go to Thailand like that ? Or should I just get a new passport first.

any advice / suggestions welcome ! thanks

Go to your nearest embassy or consulate for your country and add pages. Check you governments website for embassy or consulates in China. Normally they add more pages in less than an hour. I have done this 6 times in my life all over the world. I did it last at my embassy in Thailand in 25 mins and they added 25 pages.

The empty page will be used for the visa on arrival, if you are the national of of country that needs it, the arrival stamp will be put in an empty space on another page. If you qualify for visa exemption, all you get will be the arrival stamp.

Agree. Thai's are much more considerat in this regard. Cambodians are the oppisite and will slap their big visa, at the first spot forward in your pasport they find room.

He may also need to prove onward travel and room for those stamps. A visa on arrival is only 15 days and would not allow new passport for most countries and even if he means visa exempt it may not allow enough time. But he really was not specific on details. I also have doubts that airline from China will even let him board without a visa in his passport and that would be a full page.

Please remember that some Countries do not add pages into a Passport.

. A visa on arrival is only 15 days

I am from Belgium and last year when I went to thailand I got 30 days on arrival .. maybe that means I am visa exempt ? and it is not a real visa on arrival ?

I did it last year .; but even though I currently am in china , I live just near the border with Macau and Hong Kong , so I will not be flying from china but rather from Macau or Hong Kong

thanks for the helpfull replies so far ! I think I might just go to thailand and see what happens ,, because if I first have to get a new passport in china , it will take another month before I can go .. I dont think I can add pages to my passport , tried looking it up online and could find no info that indicated that Belgium did such thing ,

Yes the 30 day entry is for visa exempt countries. Visa on arrival is only available to a smaller list of countries where access to a Thai Consulate is limited or unavailable.

With a Belgian passport, you will be visa exempt and the space will be sufficient.

Of course you need a new passport urgently. Check with your embassy in Bangkok whether they can speed up the system: The German embassy will issue the old-style pre-EU green national passport within 24 hours (I'm saying this for the benefit of any Germans reading this thread), your embassy might do the same.

NB: The pre-EU national passport will only be issued with a validity of 12 months, which gives you enough time (and pages).

I arrived in bangkok 4 days ago with only 3/4 of a page available and had no problem at all.

Before leaving i ordered a new passeport at bangkok french ambassade and get a new passeport in 8 days !

Then i went to immigration where they put the visa historic and extension of stay on the new one.

So you can come here with 1 free page no problem
