Maybe yellow-shirts wanting to march on Cambodia, maybe rebels from down South, maybe some enterprising businessmen, maybe etc., etc.

As for next major protest, that will be on the 11th I think. Should be really peaceful although a bit of a traffic jam around Democracy Monument. Road rage may be expected ;)

How the hell can the weapons go missing, surely they have an Armoury?

Indeed, but your forgetting one vital thing....it is guarded by Thais  zzzzzzzzz

actually this is my point...Have you ever seen these military amouries? Unless i was drunk and quite possibly I was they are like forts, solid walls with security everywhere, I smell another Thai RAT here and I'm fairly sure that no red, yellow or even the mysterious black shirt could not even get close to these places, there is NO WAY any right minded person should attend any of the up coming Red Shirt protests and I for one really do think this is another sick plan of a very sick government that will not give up their power easily.....I like most others just hope and call for sanity to prevail but I am rapidily losing hope....again...sadly...

Your opinion to which you are entitled. Sure a government / army conspiracy, like the theft a few months ago. Read Robert A.'s report, more of the same.

On the other hand maybe it was some of those military leaning redwards, K. Jatuporn mentioned the other day they have some. Maybe just usual Thai entrepeneurs seeking a profit by selling stuff. Maybe another reason.

Sorry, my crysal ball is on the blink again. Probably need to replace the batteries ;)

and they want to build a Nuclear Power Plant.

The Isaan Farmers group, an extremist splinter group, of the red shirt movement are believed to be behind the disappearance of a number of uranium rods. When pressed on the issue Abhisit replied " We have to believe they have ill intentions and a 'dirty bomb' is possible. Our intelligence shows they have the tecnology down on the farm to make this a real threat"

Both opinions are very valid but both are extremely frightening. The army creating excuses to shoot without question or we would have to presume Army officers (cannot be foot soldiers alone) sending free samples to Jatuporn. Officers with little or no aleigance is a scary thought for those controlling the country. It may be coming home to roost, that when they laid out the rules of engagement, back in May that one day 'a shoot on sight' policy would come back to bite them on their behinds as the opposition may start playing by the same rules.

Can't forget the "massive" one just the day after tomorrow...

Thai "red-shirts" plan to organize massive rally in Lopburi on March 6

An anti-government or the "red- shirt" coordinator in central Lopburi province said on Tuesday that the group plans to organize massive rally on March 6 from 06: 00 p.m. local time. Police Colonel Chukiat Duangchana, the co-leader of "red-shirt" movement in Lopburi, said that an estimated 25,000 supporters from the central region as well as others are expected to turn out on that day.

Stage speech delivered by recently released leaders -- Nutthawut Saikua and Weng Tojirakarn -- would highlight the activity on that day, according to Chukiat. Nutthawut Saikua and Weng Tojirakarn are among seven detained "red-shirt" leaders who were released temporarily on bails by the Criminal Court on Feb. 22 which banned them from leaving the country or inciting their supporters to stir unrest.

Accountability is the main problem here. The military controls the government, not the other way round, and the military is just as corrupt, inept and useless as any other branch of Thai society with few exceptions.

They do, you wouldn't want any common thief to steal them, without paying first of course. Of course we are in March already and no doubt loads of poor unarmed redshirts will be planning their traditional peaceful trip to Bangkok soon.

You forget the "water melon soldiers", may be they are still at work and it's your faction?

Water Melon Officers would be a more apt frightening description. Disgruntled senior officers who currently are not getting their noses in the trough. About 2 weeks ago watched a report on 'Australia Network Channel' with red shirt leaders (Udon or Chiang Mai) saying how next time they would be better prepared and they had been buying weapons from army personnel. Faces of the interviewees identities where not revealed..

The military reflect Thai society as do the police, this was always so regardless of who appears to be sitting at the top of the pyramid, to blame the leader is as futile as blaming the head cell of a Portuguese man of war.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_Man_o'_War

'Despite its outward appearance, the man-of-war is not a true jellyfish but a siphonophore, which differ from jellyfish in that they are not actually a single creature, but a colonial organism made up of many minute individuals called zooids.[1] Each of these zooids is highly-specialized and, although structurally similar to other solitary animals, are attached to each other and physiologically integrated to the extent that they are incapable of independent survival.'

Remove one cell and one identical in form and function takes it's place.

If you are involved in an armed and violent riot then you are not 'innocent'. You might not be hardcore thug, but every thug thanks you for allowing them to hide in your numbers, behind you, using you as a human shield.

The vast majority of the Thai army, those who populate the lower echelons (read "guards" as well), are made up from the poorer parts of the country, particularly the Northeast, hotbed of red activity. Only the hi-so Thai/Chinese-type become the generals and commanders. There's not a lot of loyalty between the two groups, which of course, mirrors Thai society. I'm sure you can draw the inferences from there.

'believe these things'? You probably refer to the government having used the army to move weapons to 'supporters' who will and have been killing red-shirts? Like described in the Robert A. report? Pathetic indeed those who believe that :ermm:

If the Thai military can't even secure a personal weapons how on gods earth will they ever protect the country?

Thais may sell anything for a personal profit, but not their country. That's why we farang can't buy part of it, dig it up and ship it back home :ermm:
