Body of missing American student found in Madrid river

MADRID, SPAIN (BNO NEWS) -- The body of a missing American college student was found in a river in Madrid, Spain, after more than a week of search efforts, officials said Tuesday.

Austin Taylor Bice, 22, of Carlsbad, California, was last seen in the early hours of February 26 after going out at night with a group of friends. On Tuesday, Madrid's local police force confirmed that his body was found in the Manzanares River, near the city's riviera, where he was last seen on Virgen de Puerto street.

Authorities said his body does not show any signs of foul play, and they are not ruling out the possibility of Bice falling over and drowning.

Initial reports say Bice was not allowed entry at a night club because he was too intoxicated, and his friends left him behind as he would walk back home. He was never seen again.

The San Diego State University student was on an exchange program, studying international business at Universidad Carlos III in Madrid.
