Hey I am in touch with ThaiVisa Insurance as would like to apply (for my Thai partner) for a one year travel insurance

Efficient exchange of informations (as with all brokers in the business) and interesting quote

My question is as follows: Is it normal that I willl only get the endorsed policy via internet and not via postal means?

This bothers me as the contract has to be presented to the consulate

Answers , other than by Thaivisa insurance (although welcome), would be appreciated

Thanks Canopus

I know, but I prefer to check twice before making a decision rather than facing consequences

OP: Is it normal that I will only get the endorsed policy via internet and not via postal means?

I purchase travel insurance when I visit the USA as BUPA Thailand does not provide coverage in US other than for accidents. I purchase via website but always receive my BUPA Travel policy documents and Membership Card with EMS Post.

Ooops Sorry , but not everyone is reprehensible  lol

Simple: I am looking for a one year travel insurance up to 120 days per trp whereas Bupa cobers up to 90 days per trip

FurthermoreI feel like dealing withh a company close to home with Thai visa

No mistery there :bah:

In the modern era there is really no need to have insurance companies send out 'physical' policies - all it does is create more paperwork and expense (which the customers pay for) - think airline tickets, all 'paperless' these days. All details can be sent by email and the customer can print off what they needs - usually just the first page with the details of the benefits and where to call in an emergency.

BUPA travel : unfortunately this only covers the medical side of expenses and not things like lost baggage, money, cancellations etc. However the good news is Thai Visa Brokers have several insurance companies who will offer full Travel Insurance which will cover all these items.

Thank you for the insight

I know paper might be obsolete but, you know, old school (although I am quite happy not tohave to think about taking my airplane ticket with me when I fly)

As for the options offered by Travel insurances....let's not dream. 5,000 for a pair of lost luggage , it sounds like a joke to me when you now that the smallest one of my bags is ten times this price (nothing to do with this insurance in particular and talking about travel insurance)

As for the other options they are well covered by the credit card (of course depending on the type one is using)

This being said I appreciate the Thai visa plans as one can choose between different plans , as is not forced into buying futile options

If you look at Plan A you should find the amount is 60,000 Baht for "Damage or loss of Personal Baggage" ?

As the plan described on the ThaiVisa Insurance website is most likely the LMG 'Safe Travel Plan' (all the coverage details match) the duration per trip is priced up to one month and then coverage is priced for each additional 10 days... 90 days maximum policy duration

There is however an AXA Thailand 'Smart Traveller' insurance plan that does go up to 180 days but very pricey.

So for the insurer and/or underwriter it begs the question: If you take more than one 120 day trip per year, what is your actual country of domicile?

BTW the maximum duration trip for BUPA Travel is 60 days before one must again return to Thailand... but as my yearly USA trip is scheduled at less that one month, barring the unforeseen that isn't any problem.

I have just bought the Plan C which covers the applicant for one year for trips up to 120 days which quite satisfying in our case and very affordable (again considering that we have other healt h insurance and covered through credit cards)
