Nope, but there is a lot of great pizza in the US which is the subject here.

You've never tasted real pizza then. Don't worry about it, keep on going to 'sports bars' for your dining experiences.

How insulting and ignorant.

I agree completely.

'Great pizza' and 'the US' simply can't be used in the same sentence. :whistling:

Wrong!!!!!

American Pie

Who makes the best pizza on earth? That is the eternal question, the one that must be answered. Because: Round or square, flat or stuffed, thick crust or thin, slathered in pork products or simply covered in cheese, pizza just might be the most perfect food ever invented. Which is why Alan Richman traveled more than 20,000 miles across the U.S.A.—the country that makes it best—in a search for the 25 best pizzas you’ll ever eat

However, its fair to say both the pizza picture in the OP and chain pizza like Pizza Hut isn't what we are talking about when we say great American pizza.

I am not an Americo-chauvinist who thinks everything from the US is the best. (For example, American gay porn, not the best.) But some things are, and pizza is one of those things. Ditto burritos.

Sometimes these things get kind of funny. I recently read that many international foodies including ones from China think the best Chinese food now is coming out of ... CANADA.

The north africans in places like rome, naples and palermo now are the main pizziolas. reason being that the italians and sicilians don't want to work low paying kitchen jobs anymore. thats why the north african economic migrants who happily take up the thankless kitchen hand task for many years at a very low pay have become experts.

Is that the best you've got?

People trashing American pizza, have you actually been to some of the better places in the US (yes it's a big country so not always easy)?

I do understand what you're saying but....

Pizza in the UK has become generally worse since the influx of American chains. Pizza Hut in particular has dumbed down the product.

Use of cheap mass produced ingredients was nearly unheard of a generation ago.

Go figure!

Mass market pizza doesn't represent American pizza culture. This is the mistake people who don't know American food culture often make, judging the food scene in the US by the mass market corporate products. McDonalds is McDonalds, nobody except a naive child would say they represent a great American hamburger. You wouldn't judge Thai food from a corporate Thai chain in Belgium would you?

Correct. While KFC in America is much better than KFC in Thailand, you'd never eat there unless you were in a jam. You'd go where the black folks go. Burgers and subs, someplace near the university. Mexican, everywhere.

I agree that chainfood pizza is quite bad but that is not what we are talking about here. There are many thousands of small idependently owned pizza places in the US that pride themselves on using only the best quality cheese and produce available when making their pizzas. To judge American pizza, of which there are many varieties, by talking about chainfood is both unfair and ignorant. If people in the US, UK, Thailand or anywhere else want to eat at chains then they deserve what they get. I'm sure the big corporations and their local franchise owners are still happy to take their money.

O was simply making the point that where people knock American or deep dish pizza this is a likely reason.

Of course there must be plenty of great pizza joints there as anywhere else....just seek 'em out.

Which is of course what the OP has done for us here. :)

Appropriate, I guess if you read and understood my post you would not have responded with such ignorance, but some people just post to get there jollies.

The thread was about 2 American guys making Pizza. I said that it did not look good. So there my Quote "All because they are Americans it does'nt mean they can make Pizza". Just like in Hua Hin, we had a guy who was Italian and claimed to be a World Pizza making Champion. His Pizza was terriable like cardboard. All because he was Italian didnt mean he could make Pizza. I come from New York and it is renowned world wide for its Pizza.

So I say to you..... When the Moon hits your eye like a Big Pizza Pie thats Amore.

Where are you From???????

All because they are Americans it does'nt mean they can make Pizza.

Thanks, that really made me laugh.

Guess America is the world, the whole world and nothing but the world.

Italy is just a small town in one of it's states. :D

Napolitan's would be spitting on their computer screen haha.

(Don't worry, just say 'huh?' and look confused) ;)

I found a Pomodoro restaurant on the ground floor of Siam Paragon last week. Mmm, best pizza I've had in Thailand. Not perfect, but quite delicious. I could eat one right now.

Pizza Hut may be a better bet for you - more your style ;)

Enjoy!

As lousy as Pizza Hut is, it is better than 99% of the pizza in Thailand. :(

I'd agree with you for deep pan pizza. Plenty of places doing decent thin crust way way better than Pizza Hut. :)
